Not Exactly the Day Envisioned
Occasional doubts about his relationship aside--a small part of her would have preferred things be, well, smaller, really, but hey, Starks did things big--Steve truly loved his girlfriend. Which meant that he absolutely had to make her birthday as special as he possibly could. He had scrimped and saved from his Avengers salary for several months in order to be able to take her out to dinner at what he had hoped was a nice enough restaurant. Not his usual world, but hers. A way to show her world was something he could at least try to operate in.

He studied the menu thoughtfully for a moment, before looking over to her. "You look beautiful."

	Anya smiled and heat touched her cheeks. "Flattery, sir, will get you everywhere. Thank you, Handsome." Anya knew this was out of Steve's comfort zone and she really appreciated it all. Anya laughed. "In all seriousness, yes. Time with you is the best thing I could ever get." Starks knew about the importance of time. Sure her father could have bought her anything she wanted when she was growing up, but time with Dad was always better than any material item. Anya learned the importance of someone's time and to appreciate it. Time with Steve wasn't any different.

"But it is nice to get out and I appreciate the setting. I know you're not entirely comfortable in places like this."

Blame that mostly on Clint. Steve's mother, ever the spy, could fit in absolutely anywhere, from a science lab to a boardroom to a superhero team. But Clint? Clint had grown up dirt poor, with almost nothing, and very little in the circus. Living in Avengers Mansion for various stretches had been the closest he'd ever really come to accepting extravagance into his life.

"Trying to get used to it now, so I don't embarrass you some day in the future."

He acted quickly with his own knife, grabbing the nearest guy's arm and pinning his jacket to the table with it, before giving the table a quick kick and dragging the man along with it... right into the other guy. 	Steve's actions meant that Anya didn't have to use the knife on either of the men. She did however take a second to grab one of the men's weapon before running after Steve. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
