Since coming home, Mac had spent some time with the family, especially Mom (who was a little clingy for a while). He helped with the cleanup wherever possible. It was hard to believe HYDRA had pulled something like that.

He didn't plan to stay long, but it was still good to be back. Besides missing Mom and Grandmother and Namor, He'd missed the city and his old underwater workout and training routines. It was also really good to have a bigger family now -- even aside from the semi-guilty little dance in his head at the fact that two perfectly nice girls were now standing between him and the job he'd always known he wasn't cut out for.

Mac finished his initial workout and wondered about making arrangements for when it was time to go to New York.

	One of the advisers busted Kassia for not being in school. This wasn't good. School had been boarding school and it had sucked. She didn't want to go back, but she had no idea where Namor'd send her. A little bummed, she wandered towards the war room. Namor was supposed to be there and he was. "Excellent. I will see to it that you and Kassia have neighboring domiciles together. Kassia can return to school and finish her education, as well as being tutored in Atlantean history, combat and military tactics." Namor says.

"Kassia, you did well in your initial trial as the Fist of Atlantis, but there is more to the role than simply punching things until they no longer move. You and Marrina also must mold yourselves into becoming a true Princesses of Atlantis." Namor says.

"There is still unrest within the kingdom; you and your sister must be prepared to assume leadership roles at any time, should the worst befall me. MacKenzie, you should also be prepared to aid Atlantis further, should the need arise." Namor says.

"This is my decree: you will both return to the surface for the time being and learn to balance your duties to both sides of your heritage. In a few months' time, you will return to court to show what you have learned during our annual War Games." Namor finishes, looking to both of them.

"I'll tame that kraken when I meet it, my dear." Namor says, referencing Emma's objections.

"But yes, you will attend public school. Do not disclose that you are Atlantean; many surface-worlders have taken a dim view of our people in recent memory. They can barely tolerate each other, let alone anyone of a different species." Namor says with a note of disgust.

"Can you two think of anything else you might need?" Namor asks.

	She was going to public school. She was going to public school as an ordinary human being. She was going to have to hide the ankle wings. She had no friends. She was going to be all the way up on the surface. This...was going to be awful. "...what about the guards?" Because blue-skinned guys in wearing Speedos wasn't weird or anything. Mac isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but he's not unobservant.

"Public school is no big deal, Kassia, honest. Me, I was never much for keeping secret, 'cause Dad said if anyone told me off, I could tell them where to go, but there's some good socks that're pretty discreet and comfortable about the ankles. And I don't think you'd need any open guards. I can walk there and back with you and we can watch each other's backs."

"Your guards would be discreet, Kassia, and would not follow you to class." Namor says, hoping that allays some of her fears.

"I understand your father's viewpoint, MacKenzie, but humans are not always dissuaded by strong langage. Some of them feel a need to fight anything they perceive as weaker than themselves, and I would rather you two did not get swept into that." he says.

"But I would like it if you might accompany Kassia to school from time to time. The presence of a male might force them to reconsider any foolish notions they stumble upon.

Kassia, you will have ample time and opportunity to return to Atlantis, but you need to spend time on the surface as well." he says.

Telepathy was a curse, particularly any time she was around her Atlantean family. They all thought more loudly and while Kassi wasn't a particularly powerful telepath, she heard things well enough. And everyone had a negative view of her mother.

Someday she was going to sit down with her mom and find out the full stories.

"You're going to need a lot of upper body strength for this. Since being down here I've changed sizes. I literally have nothing to wear that isn't Atlantean garb. Shit, it snows in New York."

Kassi wasn't a fan of cold on the surface.
