This, That, and The Other (and The Other Other)
It was looking to be a rather busy week for Vincent. Aside from what he had to do, there were certain things he simply felt he should do, and at least one he was looking forward to.

Vincent, having laid out enough ground work for the alchemical procedure (it would basically be trial and error at this point to adapt to a particular titanium blend), went to speak with Kristoff.

One didn't go using magic in or on a love one's loved one's home without proper permission of course.

Kristoff raises an eyebrow. "Alchemy is not cost-effective, Vincent. How would instill the proper aspects of the process on each of the nanites? It is a more involved process than expanding the swarm..."

He shakes his head. "All the nanites have to do is bore out the pathways. After reducing the titanium to a liquid state, any standard pressurized injection system can handle the rest. A secondary application of the catalyzing elixir will solidify it and complete the reinforcement of the structure. I've almost completed the formula for the elixir

The procedures would require direct supervision, but frankly, that's the sort of thing I'm willing to invest my time and effort in."

Having cleared matters with Kristoff to their mutual satisfaction, and having found time to refine the formula for the test scraps he was working with, Vincent was in a rather good mood as he waited to receive Anya.

Anya delivered the drive that had the nanite code on it and left it with Roberta. Anya had to get home. She had babysitting to do.

He was still a little too scared for a face to face, so Vincent had left a voicemail for Valeria.

"Hey... I'm sorry we haven't spoken much since... well, since everything happened. Would you like to join me for burgers and Megamind on Tuesday? I'll be inviting Andrea as well, and Franklin if he's not busy."

Vincent knocked at the door to Andrea's room. Just waiting to talk to her put him in a better mood. He felt he'd been handling being 'just friends' fairly well, all things considered.

Andrea was busy watering her Venus Flytraps, but placed the watering can on her desk, next to her school books. She had a paper due Monday, but with her typing speed and research skills, it would not take long to compose.

She went to the door and smiled slightly. "Hello, Vincent," she said. "How are you today?"

Vincent smiled in return. "Doing well. I wanted to invite you out for this coming Tuesday. I got passes to Megamind and was thinking we could get burgers before. I've invited Valeria and Franklin as well."

He still had to fight the habitual instinct to hug her and give her at least a light kiss, but it was getting easier. It was a good moment, to just see his best friend.

Well. This was a little bit awkward. There romantic relationship had been over for sometime now, but they were still friends.

"I... That sounds lovely, Vincent," she began, "but I am afraid I already have plans for that evening."

He's slightly surprised, and only moderately disappointed. He chided himself for just assuming she'd be free. It wasn't like when they were dating, that he could just spring things on her and automatically expect it to fall into place.

"Oh? What's up?" He was curious.

Andrea looked away briefly, trying to decide how best to explain it to Vincent. She had no desire to hurt him, but they were a couple no longer, and she was free to make her own choices in life.

She decided for honesty.

"I have a date," she told him. "For the Knicks game."

The bottom of his stomach, and quite possibly the floor, fell away from Vincent. His reflexes moved as fast as they could to keep his face placid.

A little twist in his now returned stomach at 'looking forward to it', but he manages a nod and forces a smile.

"Of course. I'll talk to you--" There's just a fraction of a pause. "--later then. Have a nice day, Andrea."

He nods again and walks off, glad his own room is still close by enough to seal himself inside it quickly.

It had taken some sweet-talking, and trading on the generally good reputation of the Fantastic Four with Atlantis besides, but Vincent had been lead to know that not only had Kassia left Atlantis, but was now living in New York. (Didn't everyone at some point?)

After taking precautions to ensure doing so won't set off an incident, he headed out, procured the proverbial olive branch, and headed to the address that had been indicated for her.

Vincent blinked in mild surprise. MacKenzie being there wasn't exactly shocking, but it did come as an unexpected turn of events.

"Oh.. MacKenzie, I wasn't aware you'd be here." A somewhat awkward pause. "How are you?"

The first phrase to come to mind is, 'She attacked me first,' but it's beaten down.

"I came to apologize for a misunderstanding we suffered recently." He adjusts his hold on the gift basket from the vegan bakery he and Shanna had found.

"Is she available?"

She wasn't exactly buying the apology. She was certain he had commentary in his head even as he spoke.

But he brought food.

He tilts his head. "You're still in high-school? Hm. I would not have guessed so."

Vincent lets out a reminiscing groan. "I had to attend public high school as well. A trying experience, I agree. If you ever would like help with any of the math or sciences, let me know."

There's a slight moment of hindsight, in which he hopes that came out as a polite and genuine offer, rather than an insinuation that she needed help.

Vincent nods and pulls a card from his wallet with his contact information on it. "Anytime." He hands Kassia the card.

He seems like he's chewing on a particular thought, debating whether something falls on the side of open channels of discussion, or being too honest.

Vincent actually laughs at that, feeling some of the tension dissipate.

"All right, here's what I didn't say earlier. Even though I know the apology was prompted by social etiquette and international diplomacy... when it comes right down to it, I don't want a good woman being left upset by something I did. I've had too much of that already." He shrugs.

If he'd known she was a telepath, he would have been on guard enough to not superimpose 'strong and beautiful' over the verbal 'good'.

"Do you often not say what you're actually thinking?" Kassia was curious about this. That he had thought one thing but said another was interesting. "Your apology is accepted, but I don't really understand what my prowess and my appearance has to do with anything. Doing the better thing is just that...doing the better thing."

She tilted her head.

Vincent slammed his mental walls up as soon as he now realized that Kassia possessed some measure of telepathy. He affords MacKenzie's comment a chuckle before responding to Kassia.

"Not that sort of prowess, MacKenzie." He looks to Kassia. "And often enough, though not nearly as often as I used to." He shrugs. "I know the right thing is it's own reward, but I was just being honest."

He puts down the gift basket and extends a hand. "I'm glad there's no trouble."

Vincent resists the urge to gild the lily and kiss her hand, merely bowing slightly at the waist before standing up and releasing her hand.

"Excellent. Hopefully the next time we meet there won't be a need for violence or peace offerings. Perhaps I'll see one or both of you at the Stark Winter charity event." He gives his best smile, before looking to MacKenzie as well.

"Good evening to you both. I hope New York agrees with you."
