Dark Reflections
There was a flash of light and the Exiles appeared in a new world with a new problem to fix.

They were in a crowd just outside a courthouse in New York city. The area around the main entrance was filled with people and the media. New York's Finest tried to keep the mass of people back, but the crowd was persistent in getting in close. Two uniformed officers stood near the rear door. One officer opened the door and the other helped the prisoner out of the car.

Captain America exited the police cruiser and the two officers flanked him. Camera flashes went off in a dizzying pattern. Reporters tried to shove microphones in front of Captain America for a quote.

The officers started to lead him up the steps toward the main entrance.

"Hawkeye" vs.

“Hawkeye” lined up his shot with a pointy arrow and got ready to fire it.

When your mind-victims include a bar brawler, a minor superhero, and a cut-rate Royal Marine, you have some sneaking-up skills.

Kev does his absolute best to do so, and try to disarm the man.

It is to be noted that Kev is merely /relatively less/ mentally ill than he once was, and still really doesn't have a strong problem with the idea of his own death.

Hawkeye turns at the last moment attempting to slam his bow into Kev.

And Kev will jsut take that slamming with a whumph, but his arms will be ignoring the pain and reaching, hands grabbing at the arrow.

Kev manages to grab the arrow but “Hawkeye” sends a kick at him to the gut.

Kev falls on his butt, reaches to stab the arrow into Hawkeye's foot as best he can, and then struggles up to just run

The arrow stabs “Hawkeye’s” foot causing him to scream angrily. He then kicks for Kev’s face as hard as he could with his other foot.

In Kev's scrambling, he kick goes to the side instead of the face. He whimpers like a little kid and then makes himself keep moving. He lived most of his life in constant pain; he can take a broken rib.

That wasn't at quite the right angle for a hairline fracture, but it's going to leave a hell of a bruise. Kev just keeps scrambling and tries to take cover.

“Hawkeye” finishes notching his arrow as soon as Kev gets undercover. “Do yourself a favor and give up now because if I have to go over there and get you well It’s not going to be pretty,” he says as he draws his bow.

“Then you should give up because that’s exactly what’s going to happen. If we lose one of you I don’t think they would care to much.”

“Thata boy,” ‘Hawkeye’ said to Kev, “and you’re in luck if you made me wait any longer I would have shot you anyways.”
