"That does sounds simpler. And yeah, Deej is great. He's my best friend. He and his mom are the best pseudofamily a girl from Maine who was stupid enough to get lost in New York could ask for," she says good-naturedly.

"I like hanging out, some of the community outreach stuff. Dancing's nice, within reason. Not that much of a mosher. I do some of our compositions; Deej and I wrote 'In My Backyard' together."

"Haven't heard that one yet. I'll have to check it out. So... I dunno, did you want to meet up before the party at any point? I don't know how busy your work must keep you."

"What with one thing or another, we're pretty booked. I'll have to check and let you know, but we can consider ourselves on for the party." Pauline hadn't wanted to book a date with a friend of a friend of a friend without at least talking to her, but she seemed okay.
