Standing Among Gods (Defenders)

Franklin had talked about the prospect of moving in with the Defenders with his parents.  They reacted as he thought they would, but they eventually saw his side of the issue.  He figured it was, in part, because both of his parents realized that there was nothing they could do to stop him from doing what he felt was best.

Sydney, the den mother, had been informed before Franklin arrived.  He had been given her e-mail address prior to leaving, in order to contact her about when he was going to arrive.  Of course, it wasn't guaranteed that he was moving in with them.  The visit was just to see how he vibed with the Defenders.  If they had problems with him being there, it wasn't going to happen.

That being said, Franklin doubled-checked himself before knocking on the door to the main building.

Since no one else was around to answer the door Eiltin sped to it to answer the door. He was dressed as he usually was in just a loin cloth. Ruarc was also with him.

“Hello,” He said, “Can I help you with something.”

"Hi," Franklin replied. This guy must have been one of the Gods running around. Cool tattoos.

"My name's Franklin Richards. I'm here to talk about potentially moving in?"

“I am Eiltin,” He says looking him over, “I am not entirely certain I am the one to talk to about that but I can most certainly get someone who would be better to talk to.”

He could tell Franklin wasn’t a threat by how Ruarc was reacting to him.

"Thanks, that would be great."

He noticed the...animal.

"Oh, you guys are allowed to have pets?" Yup. That was that. If he was allowed to live here, he was bringing Puppy.

“He’s not a pet,” Eiltin says patting the pony sized dog on the head, “He’s a skilled warhound and friend.”

"Oh, I see," Franklin replied. "That's pretty cool. I just have Puppy. He's a super-powered alien dog that my Uncle Johnny got me."

“Interesting,” Eiltin said, “Ruarc’s a Cú Faoil I’ve had since I was seven back when he was a puppy I could hold in one arm.”

"I had Puppy since I was six," Franklin replied. "But I could never hold him in one arm. Uncle Ben couldn't even do that." Then he chuckled, remembering the hi-jinx between Puppy and Uncle Ben.

"That's pretty cool, and thanks. That actually part of the reason why I'm here--my powers have been going awry lately. Either that, or something happens that sends me over the edge."

He wasn't very proud of that, and it showed.

Syd had been in the library working on a paper for her history class. Finals were next week and the paper was due tomorrow.

When Eiltin came in to tell her Franklin was here, she set it aside and went out to talk to him.

"Hello," she said when she entered the room.

Eiltin followed behind Syd. He didn’t have much to say at the moment and let them talk. Ruarc walked over to his side.

"I've only met him once, but our Asgardians are not like him. I would suggest not talking about him much. There is bad blood and it is best not to stir up the natives."

She smiled. "Before you ask, yes, we did get a lifetime ban from Disneyland. That is true."

"Yeah, that sounds like him. Mine involves abandonment and Theft of Name. But... that is probably not the best thing to talk about right now.

And, I'm definitely going to find out if it involves Disney World. That is the better of the two that are in the United States, after all."

"Oh..."

Awkward...

"Well, Disney does owe favors to the Richard family. I could always ask Mom and Dad about letting you and your daughter go there. Maybe not the whole Defenders team, though. I don't want to get banned from Disney World."

He chuckled at that.

Oh...grounded. Poor girl. Anyway, Franklin moved with the topic of discussion.

"Well, umm... I'm sure you've already gotten the call from Tony Stark about my, uh, situation. I guess I'm just here to see if I vibe with you all, and if you all are willing to let me move in here."

Eiltin had been politely staying out of the conversation giving Franklin and Sydney some privacy to talk. He had been scratching Ruarc’s head talking to him in ancient Celtic.

He looked up when he heard his name said though.

"They are for the most part, but you do have to be careful with certain things. Like for instance don't insult the Asgardians or their family. The results would be bad."

"I do admit that I have some concerns with you being here and what you can do. There are a few mortals living here, one of which is my daughter. Her safety is my first and foremost concern."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]son_of_genius

"Duly noted," he replied, about the Asgardians.

"I totally understand where you're coming from. Tony told me a little about the few mortals living here. And I completely understand that your daughter is your biggest concern. I still think, though, that this is the safest place for me to be. Your daughter has more protection with the Gods and other superpowers around here than the thousands of children her age do in New York, or any other part of the world."

"But not all of us on the team are of the super-powered variety, Mr Richards," Griffen says in a brisk tone. He too had heard this. He's actually dressed up today. He had been in a meeting with his adviser and had wanted to look his best instead of like a mad scientist.

"And my mother lives here too. We need to be certain that everyone is safe."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]son_of_genius
2010-12-13 12:15 am UTC (link)
Franklin was caught off guard by what Griffen had said. It was true that not everyone was super-powered, of course. But they were the Defenders for a reason.

"Super-powered or not, all of the Defenders are capable of holding their own and defeating very powerful threats. The few normal humans who live here are more secure than the many who live wherever else I could go."

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]sydney_ashcroft
2010-12-13 01:29 am UTC (link)
Syd was a little surprised at Griffen's sudden appearance in the room. She hadn't seen or heard him come in.

"While I do agree that the Defenders can handle a lot of things and I can see the reasoning behind Mr. Stark's decision to suggest being out here, I do have concerns. With those in mind, I suggest a probationary period of a few months. At the end of the period we will re-evaluate the situation and go from there."
