With Zoey with Avery for the weekend Syd had used the weekend to finish her paper for a class and wrap up the Scion end of quarter stuff. It had been a productive weekend and thankfully the chaos had been kept to a minimum as well. Maybe she was getting a Christmas gift early.

She poured herself a glass of wine and retreated to the library. Zoey would be home soon and Syd would spend the last few moments of free time with a glass of wine and a book. She curled up on one of the large couches in the library and dove into a book.

	Avery arrives with a Small Lady in tow, having enjoyed the weekend with his little girl. He loves spending time with Zoey; he also enjoys bringing her home so that he can see her mother. Once they're inside, Avery escorts Zoey to the library to announce their arrival. "Honey! We're home." he calls out with a grin. (Reply to this)(Thread)

"We did have a great time." he says, pulling Sydney's feet into his lap.

"We both talked about you a lot, too." Avery says. "So, how does Christmas work with the Defenders? I mean, you've got actual gods on the team. Do any of them take offense at the idea?" he asks.

Then he looks around before asking his next question.

"Did any of them actually know Jesus? You know, back when?" Avery asks. That question has been on his mind for a little while now.

"Oh? What was being said about me?" she asked.

"The Asgardians celebrate Yule as well as the Celts. I'm not sure about Andy. He hasn't said what the Greeks celebrate around mid-winter.

Syd blinked and shook her head. "No. They're all way too young for that. The Asgardians are twenty-six. Andy's twenty-three and Eiltin is nineteen. They're all babies in terms of gods."

	Avery now feels very /old/. He was hoping they'd at least be a century old for looking so young. It was a little humbling, now that he thought on it. "Oh, we just talked about your Christmas presents and how Awesome you are. We figured Zoey had to get her Awesome from somewhere." Avery grins. "So...about her Christmas list." Avery says. Avery goes on as if he hasn't felt all of the air leave the room and the temperature drop about 30 degrees.

"I mean, there's the fun of making them, followed by listening to you crave bacon ice cream chili dogs for nine months and Zoey asking if the baby is ready yet. Oh, and we certainly can't forget debating names, and what kind of crib to get..." he says, really starting to get going as he looks up to the ceiling.

"Oh! And then...what if you have twins?" he asks.

"You're right. It is pretty good. Oh, and I forgot to tell you about what happened at work the other day." Avery says, just remembering the other thing he wanted to tell Sydney.

"I met with a member of the City Council the other day while getting a proposal together for the city. The seat in my district is going up for election soon. After a lot of discussion, she suggested that I run for it." Avery chuckles.

"Do you really think so, Sydney? I've thought about getting involved in politics for a long time, but the timing always felt off. I'd have to quit my job, of course, but even more than that, campaigning is an intense and long process. People look at your life and who is a part of it." Avery says.

"I'm not worried that you can handle it at all. How do you think it would affect Zoey?" he asks.

	Syd smiled. "I really do think and believe so, Avery. You have this /thing/ about you that makes you well suited for public office." "She will be able to handle it," Sydney said. "Yes, she did. I can always tell people that our daughter is awesome enough to talk down a guy who eats planets." Avery says, half-jokingly. It still amazed and scared him that his daughter, at six years of age, had stood up to a being that was likely a live before the universe was even created.

Growing up with gods had its advantages.

"You know they'll also look for information about us, right?" he asks.

	Some of the things Zoey did terrified her, but her daughter had a lot of very powerful people at her back. Syd of course would rather not have Zoey out there, but outside of moving away she had little hope of stopping it. "I know," she said. "What would you like me to tell them if I get asked?" "Well, I don't want to disrupt anyone's lives any more than these type of things do...but thank you." Avery smiles.

"Since I've gotten to know the Defenders a lot of my views on super-humans and gods have changed. I admit, I used to be afraid of them and afraid of you and Zoey being so near them all the time. Now, I realize this is the safest place for both of you and you're both happy." Avery says.
