The End of One Show Just Starts Another
Chris had always thought that the six day interval between Christmas and New Year's was the hardest section of days on the calendar to get anything done at all. However, this year on the 28th, she had something she damn sure wasn't going to miss. Pauline had invited her to come to one of her shows, and to go out afterward for sandwiches and whatever else.

For fun, and to make sure Pauline saw her there, she'd brought along a sign with a picture of a kitten with "I CAN HAZ!" pasted beneath it.

She couldn't help but grin as the band was introduced and brought out.

Pauline giggled. "Yeah, so with the protests and becoming lead singer, I dropped the overdone makeup and gloves, because closeted just wasn't going to work anymore."

She nods. "Good for you. Mom was famous enough that I tend to get by, or at worst get mistaken for an extra from a Weber musical."

Chris pauses, munching on a fry. "If it's alright for me to ask, just out of curiosity, did you switch tones one day, or did you come out of the oven that way? My particular power cocktail has been around all my life. Made for a very interesting infancy for Mom, before I got old enough to understand what I was doing."

"So do you live with DJ and Miss Vange, or are you on your own? I dorm at Xavier's by myself, roommate moved out to Boston not terribly long ago."

There is maybe a little bit of a promising tone in Chris' voice there.

"Sounds like a class act." Chris finishes clearing her plate, then just sits back and lets out a contented sigh. "This was good stuff... I probably need at least an hour before dancing." She pauses. "And some ice cream."

Winter be damned, if you have beef covered in gravy, accompanied by salty fries, you need something sweet to balance it out.

Chris grins and gives the hand a squeeze. She's having a good time. This whole dating girls thing is easier than she's been lead to believe. Boys need to toughen up and quit complaining.

"I've seen your boss in an interview or two. Tried to research your group a bit before the holiday party. He seems like he tries to take up all the space in the room." Chris shrugs.

"Me, I was more interested in what the socially conscious singer and his backup vocalist had to say." She grins and squeezes Pauline's hand.

"Julian tries to stay behind the camera, but he's got some weird charisma issues that just pull him in front sometimes. You should see him schmooze with that Genoshan diplomat. They look like they're in some kind of boy-king-off without consciously noticing it."

A wry smile. "I haven't been the backup singer since I stopped wearing flesh-toned makeup and gloves. Definitely had gone lead by the time we started the show, but I guess I can see how that could be confusing. Deej and I stick together so much we might seem like a single entity sometimes."

She ducks her head slightly at the mix-up. "Ooh, my bad. I promise, the majority of my staring at him tonight was just wondering if he waxes or he's just fortunate. To be honest, I had more pressing visual concerns." A toothy grin as she nudges against her while they walk.
