The End of One Show Just Starts Another
Chris had always thought that the six day interval between Christmas and New Year's was the hardest section of days on the calendar to get anything done at all. However, this year on the 28th, she had something she damn sure wasn't going to miss. Pauline had invited her to come to one of her shows, and to go out afterward for sandwiches and whatever else.

For fun, and to make sure Pauline saw her there, she'd brought along a sign with a picture of a kitten with "I CAN HAZ!" pasted beneath it.

She couldn't help but grin as the band was introduced and brought out.

"Hey, I'm glad. That smile on your face suits you. Should do it more often, Kitten." Joey smiles, stretching a little.

"You're...different lately. In a good way, not that you were bad before. How do I say this...?" Joey says, looking her over for a moment.

"Your don't do the coloring with your hair and brings out your eyes. You smile more and you've got a bounce in your step, even when you're all Hello-Kitty. What's her name?" Joey asks.

She smiles. "Yeah... there's a girl, but... there's other stuff." Chris leans on a wall as she collects her thoughts.

"Ever since Providence... everything about my power just feels more natural. None of that... how do I describe it... it's like there was this friction between what makes Mom like she is, and what makes Dad like he is. They didn't go with each other, but there was no way to untangle them either. Now..." She flexes a hand, and it morphs, only about halfway down her arm. "It all just flows."

Her eyes flick upwards to her hair. "Haven't really thought about that much. Just tried to look more pretty and natural for the big formal event. Pink and violet highlights don't really mesh with a ball-gown. Haven't bothered changing it back, it's pretty close to my natural anyway."

She smirks. "And yes... the girl. Her name's Pauline, she's the co-vocalist for Now I Can Haz Machinegun. They're that group that got pulled into that whole X-Factor thing. Adorable, sings like awesome, and Anya set me up with her as a date for the Stark party." The smirk stretches into a grin. "I met her after I went to her show to-- yesterday night. Dinner and ice cream and a lot of dancing afterwards... and I walked her home."

She doesn't kiss and tell, but her eyebrows flick upwards.

"Wait...you mean the blue girl from X-Factor? Dude! I've got a running bet with, like, five people that if X-Factor ever kills anyone, /she's/ the one they have hide the bodies." Joey says, chuckling.

"Seriously, it's good that you're doin' so well. Everyone should be happy. So now everyone in X-Force is seein' someone except Ana-Pants. Of course, she's a little more of the grumpy type, but I bet we could find her someone." Joey says, half-seriously. He's been looking into the idea for awhile, but Ana-Pants is hard to "shop" for.

	"I don't know if Ana likes girls, so I didn't think of it. Actually, it's hard to tell what Ana-Pants likes. She's hard to read most of the time." Joey says. Crap. She's perceptive.

"Okay, I'm linin' up a surprise for Rose, but I asked my guy to deliver /early/ because she'll know what's up if she sees the guy around here any other time. I don't want her findin' out what I'm up to before I pull it off." Joey says, looking toward the gate.

"I'm gonna ask her to...you know. The big M-world. Of course, we're not gonna do it anytime soon. Still gotta get past Logan, who I also was tryin' to avoid by gettin' up so early.

But I love Rose and I know it. I'm gonna surprise her when we go out to dinner in a couple of days. Got this steakhouse all picked out in Salem Center, followed by a long night of our own." Joey grins.

Joey chuckles, even if he finds it hard to breathe, as he hugs Chris back.

"Hey, Kitten. I'm gonna need those ribs and that spine if I'm gonna ask Rose to marry me." Joey manages to get out.

"But I'd really like if you could fix me up with somethin' dressy. I want Rose to remember our night...and maybe it'll double as a good burial suit if Mr. Logan finds out and decides I've gotta go." Joey smirks.

	Chris lets him go, raising a finger to her chin thoughtfully. "No... don't want to go that far. She'll think something's up. Something classy, but not lifetime event dressed up...
