Matter of Honor: Prelude
She got the message about her father's calls after coming in from an official assignment. It was a shock, at first, to realize taht Jushiro had sunk so far, even if she'd known he was garbage. She thought very unkindly of many in her adopted clan -- of anyone who didn't believe that Lady Mariko had fully and completely restored the honor of Clan Yashida by her efforts and her sacrifices. -- but Jushiro was a special sort of scum. But this was a new low. As she obtained more information about what had happened, Amiko felt terrible that she hadn't been there to help. At least they were safe now.

But as she realized that Jushiro was both utterly inaccessible and still essentially in control of clan operations, she knew one thing she had to do.

When she'd finished drafting the letter, she opened communication to the rest of the team. "Please meet me in the briefing room. I would appreciate it."

Amiko draws herself up professionally.

"I'm afraid there has been a problem in my clan. I believe it is necessary to deal with it in what small way I can." She sets the envelope on the table. "This is a letter of resignation and an assurance that the government had no involvement in what I am going to do. I ask that you give it to Kenishi-san if I am captured or killed, but only then. I... really like working with all of you, and I would hate to quit unnecessarily." She forced a small smile.

	"You don't have to. The bastard isn't your cousin," it could be argued that he wasn't Amiko's cousin, either, but it would be argued with Amiko's knife in the arguer's face. 	"Your clan is cousin to the emperor, and duty to clan is a matter of honor. Both of these are greater obligations than duty to... what is it... elected officials? Yes, Amiko-san. Amiko smiles gratefully. "All right, but please, let me explain, so that everything is more clear."
She takes a breath. "Lady Mariko's nephew, Jushiro Harada, has seized control of the clan from his father, her illegitimate half-brother, and systematically undone all of the work and sacrifice by which Lady Mariko restored the Yashida honor. He has recently compounded this outrage by kidnapping a young girl, drugging her, and attempting to force her into 'marriage' merely to hurt our father. He was stopped, and maimed as he more than deserved, but has gone into hiding and yet still, somehow, manages to control a majority of the clan."
Amiko grits her teeth. "I cannot find Jushiro and give him what he truly deserves, but I am at least going to retrieve the Honor Sword of Clan Yashida, by any means necessary, so that it may be given to a branch of the family that will not sully it, who can then better denounce Jushiro for the renegade he is."

	Amiko's expression softens. She tries to explain gently. "I hope not for long, Grogg, but maybe for a very long time. I have to steal a sword from my bad cousin and give it to my good cousin, so everyone will know which one is the bad cousin. But I am breaking the rules by going at all, and if something goes wrong, my bad cousin might not let me come back." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
