Don't YOU feel like a jerk? (Lyta)
Austin Caine wakes up the morning after the Auction, his head full of rocks and his mouth feeling like cotton. He'd gone almost two years without a drunken bender of any kind and he couldn't, for the life of him, remember why he'd wanted to get drunk. He was better than this.

Getting wasted like that was something Tommy would do.

At some point in his musings, he becomes aware of another body in the bed next to him. Austin takes a deep breath, because he doesn't remember meeting anyone last night, though his body quickly informs that, yes he did, in fact, do /that/ last night. He's afraid to look over at the person next to him, because he doesn't know if this is someone he just happened to meet or if this one of "those" type of fans, and if he's about to walk into some kind of lawsuit, all because...

...why? Why did he do this? Austin lies back and thinks over what happened last night that would lead to him trying to blowtorch his life.

He'd gone to the Auction, ladies bid upon him. Someone won. He had conversations with a few people in the audience before he went on stage. After the auction, he'd happened to look at his phone to check the news.

Suddenly, it all came back to him.

Anya got married. To Steve. Austin, unthinking, left the auction and the girl he was supposed to take out.

He'd gone to the bar, started drinking, and even called his mother for the first time in years. Then someone else walked in.

The rest, as they say, is history.

"Goddamnit, Tommy. You've gone and done it this time." he sighs, reaching for his phone. Checking it, he finds that there are fifteen calls and thirty texts from Darren, his agent. He cycles through the texts, each a bit more confused and irritated than the last. Austin knew he forgot to do something. The messages are from Darren, his mother, Sarah, and his brother, Jerry.

He erases them all.

This is not good.

"Soon as they brought me home from the hospital, except for the year I studied in Europe after high school. Now, we're going to get to the trees a lot faster if I can piggyback. That okay with you?"

"Not a problem. Go for." Austin says, readying himself to accept her weight.

Sylvie reaches up, 'standing' in her chair a little, and puts her upper hands on his shoulders, climbing onto his back. "Thanks," she says quietly. She ... doesn't tend to do this with someone she hasn't known forever.

"Anytime, pretty lady." Austin says, looking around the area.

"Which way are we goin', Sylvie?" he asks.

"Left. Right towards the trees over there."

Austin carries Sylvie to the trees dutifully and waits for further instruction.

Sylvie doesn't explain further, just uses him as a springboard a she somersaults up into the tree and climbs to disentangle her trapeze from the higher branches.
"Just a minute." She swings to a neighboring one and jumps into the branches to bring down the matching set.

Austin watches Sylvie in awe as she moves. He wouldn't believe it was possible if he couldn't see it for himself.

"Wow." he whispers, watching her movements.

"You're not afraid of the height at all? You don't get all dizzy up there?" he asks, his voice full of Texas wonder and drawl.

Oh gosh, he's adorable.

"You are a braver person than I. I've had to do some wire work in a few of my films, and I have to say a few prayers before, during and after the stunt is over." Austin laughs.

"How old were you when you started in on the trapeze? Did your parents have to bolt the doors to keep you from runnin' off to join the circus?" he asks.

"Started when I was very little, but I got more heavily into it when I was twelve. Running away wasn't a risk. Dad and one of my uncle took me to the circus plenty of times."

"You can't go around doing that! You'll ruin your metabolism! Let's get inside. So, what kind of sandwiches are you into? And what are your thoughts on root beer?"

"Root beer is a beautiful thing." Austin smiles.

"Sandwich-wise, though...I might creep you out. I like ham, cheese and...bananas." he says. "I was really sick one year and thought I was puttin' pickles on my sandwich and it turned out to be bananas.

I fell in love with it, though." he laughs.

"Honey is indeed good, but that sweet, smooth, starchy potassium is where it's at, let me tell you."

And as they get into the house, she sets her wheelchair in the corner and commences climbing across conveniently-placed furniture, left just the way she likes it.

She giggles. "Thanks."

And soon, they're in the kitchen, and she's making some peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
