What If? All in the Family.
It had been a freak accident. Some kind of short-circuit of energy signatures, Dr. Vernard had said when he examined them. The point was that Jon had been dragged here with them from his own facet of reality, and his energy signature was so disrupted that even that dimensional teleporter Mrs. Stark had called in couldn't send him back there. They'd really tried everything, but had finally given up.

And then, there was the other thing.

"So... do you want to tell him?" Vernique asked Svalin as she sat holding her hand on the bed. In Svalin's other hand was the test, clearly positive.

Not necessarily everything that entails in political circles, but the idea of the nuclear, two parent family, fidelity in marriage, at least attempting to make a commitment to life-long marriage... so this is a big jump for me with all this... but you're worth it." "It's our moms who are really going to get excitable," Vernique says happily.

"Okay, we're going to have to start sorting out baby stuff soon. Doctor's appointments, watching what you eat, the whole thing. To be on the safe side, no more mead, not that you were drinking like Hal anyway. And no caffeine except for chocolate, because you have to be moderate about caffeine." Yes, she's lecturing you within an hour or so of the pregnancy's being confirmed, Svalin. Wife-mode comes early.

The thought of Hal brought something else to mind, but Svalin did not want to think about that. Her son as a bear sark was not the kind of thoughts she should be having.
