"Well, there are some endeavors I'd like to pursue, Vernique, but I must find a way to earn capital. Secondly, I need to obtain a source of income that gives me a veneer of respectability. I have been studying fashion since we return from our sojourn, and I find that I draw very well." Eli says, thinking over some of the things Veronica told him during their time in the future.

"I am thinking that I would like to try my hand designing clothing." he says.

"Oh. Oh." Eli says, finally understanding Vernique's meaning. He honestly had not expected her to suggest such things, after her joining to Svalin. He understood that their relationship was not intimate, but he did not know what it allowed and did not allow.

"I am flattered you still think of me that way, Vernique. I did not realize you did. However, I need to be honest with you. I have been spending more time with Luna recently, and we are attending this royal wedding together at the end of the month.

In the interest of being fair to you both, I cannot take you to my bed /and/ be close with her as well. It would be selfish of me, disrespectful to both of you, and that is the last thing I want." Eli says.
