What have I become?
It wasn't hard to find the reef Kassi had spoken of. It was harder to make herself come. Even though Kassi had offered her help unselfishly, pre-guilt over what might happen to her sister wracked Marrina. What if she hurt her? Or worse? When her body and mind raged so much out of control as they had been, it was impossible to say what she might do.

Marrina took a deep breath as she bobbed in the water. It would be so easy to just run away from it all. From Namor and Mac and Kassi, and... Mason and... and maybe not so easy.

But she knew what her mother had become. Knew that she'd had to be put down. She wouldn't, couldn't do that to her friends and family.

	Marrina scooped Kassi up. "Next time then," she said, almost grinning. Experimentally, she tried flapping the fins. Amazingly, they provided the same kind of lift as her ankle-wings had.
