But It's My Day Off!
It pained him to admit it, but Vincent had been somewhat remiss lately. In spite of their decision to date one another exclusively, he'd hardly been able to make any time for Asleif. It wasn't as if she'd been hounding him for it, as she seemed thoroughly absorbed in her world travels, but it bothered him, and rightfully so.

A painstakingly thorough clearing of his schedule for a day had been arranged, along with putting together an itinerary of things to do together. He'd even gone the extra mile and asked MacKenzie the favor of being on standby for any F4 related emergencies in his stead (with a caveat that if magic was involved, he should be contacted immediately).

And so, crafting the most precise veil he knew how to, he will slip up behind the object of his affections as she thinks she is off and alone.

"My lady." Comes a whisper over her shoulder, as he manages to keep the tone soft in spite of his grin.

From his own experience, Vincent knows it can be easier to accept help than ask for it, however marginal the difference.

"Come then, we'll begin with simply acclimating you." He smiles and brings her just a few yards closer to the water, then seats her on the ground in front of him, laying his hands reassuringly on her shoulders. "I always thought the ocean felt much better than the endlessly filtered and chemically altered water in pools. It feels more real."

Tentatively, he kisses her shoulder, hands staying still for now, as a wave comes in and washes around them up to their waists.

	Once she seems comfortable, Vincent slides his arms to rest around her waist, kissing her back fondly. And in spite of all the day has wrought, in spite of all the self-doubt and nightmares, Vincent lets himself believe they both deserve this moment. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	It turns out not to last as long as either of them were hoping for. The surf several yards out erupts as three Atlantean craft burst forth, accompanied by footsoldiers bearing weaponry. They seem a half-starved and manic lot, but the weapons look real enough, as they storm the beach, shouting in slurred and accented Atlantean about 'blue power'. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Vincent does not move, he simply counts backwards from ten and tries to keep his breathing steady. If he allows himself to move right away, his response may be somewhat... rash.

After a few very long seconds, he uses a long distance communication spell to open a visual and auditory portal to the person he feels best to contact.

"MacKenzie... there is a slight altercation I feel you should be aware of, which I fear I am about to involve myself." The spell 'pans' to show the attackers stomping through the breakers.

	The warriors seem undaunted, although a pair of apparently more resourceful ones use their comrades as shields to push through the fire. Weapons come into view on the crafts, pulling in water from around them, as people are already fleeing the beach. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

A trio of the extremists keeled over, convinced they were in the middle of the desert, as they flopped about the shallows.

Those taken advantage of by their comrades are caught by MacKenzie, passing out from the impact as they hit the shore. The remaining foot-soldiers are sent flying back out to sea by Asleif.

The attack craft begin to open fire, high pressure blasts of water issuing forth.

Vincent lets out a shout as he flies in front of one blast and raises a shield, being pushed back before he starts forcing it back, advancing on the sub with a frenzied look in his eyes.

"This was my day off! I just wanted ONE. DAY. WITH MY GIRLFRIEND. BUT APPARENTLY THAT IS JUST NOT AN OPTION!" He pushes the stream back down the barrel of the weapon (the lunatics weren't even smart enough to just stop firing), and a portion of the craft bursts open, crippling it.

	Still working out the day's frustrations, Vincent descends upon the next craft, tearing it apart with a bit more effort than it would take MacKenzie or Asleif, but with just as sure a result. He's thankful for the Atlantean profanities he learned years earlier, as they seem to be evoking the proper amount of terror. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

More melee combat and a few restraining spells and illusions serve to abate the remnants of Vincent's frustrations. The Atlanteans are soon restrained and awaiting either SHIELD or Atlantean military.

"Thank you for your help, MacKenzie. Even if they were in the wrong, I'm sure having an Atlantean at our side makes our counterattack appear more... palatable."

Namor tended to tend to his own.

	Vincent will wait until it's certain that the situation is resolved, and make sure that he equips MacKenzie to get back to New York. And after all of the day's events, he is simply ready to take Asleif and himself back home. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
