In the Deep of the Night
Night had settled over the city of Los Angeles. A waning gibbous mood had risen and the light of the stars was blocked out by the thick smog that usually blanketed the city. The hours moved on and the city slowed down. Citizens were asleep in their beds and off to dreamland.

The same held true for the residents at 1800 Palos Verdes Drive.

They wouldn't stay asleep for long. Something stirred in the darkness outside.

Ares has been at this a long time - and learned an immortal's tricks in combat. He lunges into the swing, blocking aggressively to try and do all the damage to Titan's arm he can.

And were it just him, he might even hold his ground. The Avengers' base, reinforced as it is, can only take so much, and the impact cracks the steel reinforced concrete, dropping Ares through the ground and to a lower level, disappearing into the dark hole.

Titan knew there would be a price to pay, and the series of pops and cracks he hears when the blow connects anger and shock him, but as long as there's some distance between him and Ares, he can sort that out.

But since Titan knows that there are other people in the compound, he follows Ares, wounded as he is.

The God of War isn't above harming innocent people to get whatever he came for.

When Titan lands, Ares, for the briefest of moments, seems focused on something else. A shadowy image that dissipates as Titan arrives.

The god of war grins savagely. "I've been told that my employer has what he's after - I'll leave you my minions to play with."

He sweeps his sword before him, and fades from view, still grinning.

"Oh no you don't!" Titan yells, lunging at Ares as he fades away.

He lands on the ground, again, and doesn't get up right away. Titan isn't sure why his legs aren't obeying him, until he looks down at his stomach.

The cut went /far/ deeper than he thought and his greenish blood was flowing much faster than he thought.

Titan collapses in the dark, beneath the house, melting back down into Andy as he lies unconscious.
