This Is the Sweet Spot Of Your Life
"I should have known you wouldn't sleep much," Natasha said in Russian as she walked around the living room with Nick against a shoulder. "Your brother and sister didn't sleep much either." Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke to her son. The child didn't know what sleep meant, but it just proved that he was a Stark and a Romanov.

Natasha stopped walking for a moment and took a quick peak to see if Nick was sleeping. His eyes were closed and a thumb was shoved in his mouth. Finally! She had been walking the living room for the past hour trying to get him back to sleep. It was three in the morning and Natasha wanted to be snuggled up next to her husband and asleep.

Five more minutes and then she can put him down and go to bed.

"If you don't want me to interrogate her, then maybe you should talk to her. I'm not inclined to be polite." Tony says.

He just can't get over that Irina is Alexei's daughter and that she's had such close contact with so many people in Tony's life. What if he decided to lean on her to try to get her to do something?

"If I ever see him again, he's going to stay dead, Tasha. That's all I'm going to say about it."

	"I will talk to her," Natasha said. "I'll also talk to Alpha Flight. They were the ones who intercepted the Winter Guard. "Do you think the Russians might have wanted to deal with Alexi themselves, since he went way off their script? Isn't that what you spy types do when someone tries to leave the 'the business'?" Tony asks.

"You know, I joked to Fury once that espionage didn't seem all that different from organized crime. I think I heard his teeth grinding from the helicarrier." Tony chuckles.

	"It's the only reason why the Winter Guard would be sent in, but the question is who ordered it. Was it an official government sanction, or is someone dealing in the shadows?" Natasha didn't want to tell him that the only way spies left the business was in body bags. The only way a person stopped being a spy was to die. "That sounds like Fury." "Damn it." Tony swears. The fact that Temujin hasn't tried anything is worse than if he'd just come at them with all of his buddies in tow. Part of him wanted to tell Anya to watch herself, but if he told her about Temujin, she'd do something that would just play into his hands.

"That one is another dead man if I see him. I don't know if I can just sit back and wait for the other shoe to drop with all of this, Tasha.

We need to do something." Tony sighs.

"Well, I think we should take him first to ease him into it, make sure she doesn't get all overstimulated, and then we can bring Anya and Steve sometime." Tony suggests.

He's been reading books about how babies develop mentally, and even though his little boy is far ahead of most kids his age, Tony is still worried.

"In fact, taking my wife and son to Coney Island seems like a better idea every second. But he's still too small for his first Coney Dog. I'll just have to have an extra one for him." Tony says with mock-resignation.

It is well known that Tony likes (re: is addicted to) Coney dogs.

"I'm sure you'll be able to deal with the hardships of eating an extra Coney Dog just fine," she teased. "The three of us can go this weekend and you can win our son a stuffed animal."

She was going to call Fury and ask for a favor of having a team assigned to them for security. Maggie, Alexi and other enemies were still out there and Natasha was not going to see her family get hurt. Even if it meant that one day in the not too distant future she'd have to return the favor and go on a mission for Fury.

"But right now, Mr. Stark, your wife wants you to take her to bed."

"Hey, my diet is under attack, honey. I usually don't mess with that, but for my son, I'd do anything." Tony smiles.

He leans over to kiss Natasha on the cheek.

"Oh, does she now? Well, I can oblige her. We should go to bed right now." Tony says, standing up. He offers Tasha his hand.

If she takes it, he'll pick her up into his arms and carry her to the bedroom with a huge smile.
