All Hope Abandon, Ye Who Enter In!
Between Marlow and Dawn the Defenders had managed to track the shadow demons who had abducted Svalin to the gates of Hades. Countless shades wandered on the shores of the river Acheron. These were the paupers and the friendless, those who did not possess an obolus to pay Charon.

A small boat floated on the dark waters of the river and the cloaked figure of Charon stood in the boat waiting to ferry souls across the river. A skeletal hand clutched a pole and the other was outstretched waiting to receive a fare for crossing.

On the other side of the river stood a large three headed dog and a large two headed dog. Cerebus and Orthus guarded the entrance into Pluto's realm.

After they made their way across the river, Cerebus and Orthus waited for them. Cerebus' three heads snapped and drool went in all directions. Orthus barked and growled, waiting for someone to dare come closer.

Halbjorn roars in response, and charges, letting the madness sweep over him, and becoming as much a wild beast as the hounds that guard the gate.

All three heads of Cerebus growled and the huge dog charged the Asgardian coming at him.

Orthus was moving to get behind the Asgardian.

Halbjorn leads in with the axe, rushing right into Cerberus charge. If they both want to come for him - so be it. There's no tactics, no subtlety, nothing held back for defense beyond that of a good offense, out for blood.

As soon as the Asgardian got close enough Cerebus snapped at the Asgardian with two heads. Large paws with sharp claws swiped at the man.

Behind Hal Orthus tried to bite Hal's hamstring.

One head bites into his arm, and the other, while not getting hamstring, definitely digs his teeth into the bearsark's leg.
He pulls back on his arm, trying to force Cerberus to either let go, or leave part of one neck exposed to a swing of the axe.

Cerebus let go, but Orthus didn't. He tried to pull the Asgardian off the ground.

Halbjorn is almost pulled down, but with Cerberus letting go, he hacks at Orthus in a wide sweep instead, trying to dig the axe in to help keep balance while he tears his leg free.

The axe swiped Orthus across the jaw and the dog let go, whining in pain.

Cerebus attacked from the front.

The smell of blood, his own, and theirs, just pushes Hal further over the brink. With a howl, he meets the attack, battering at one snapping jaw and, in too close of quarters for a wide swing, uses the axe handle like brass knuckles to swing at one of Cerberus' throats.

Cerebus yelped as the axe handle connected one throat and his muzzle. The remaining head tried to bite Hal.

Orthus tried to bite Hal with both of his heads.

The bites connect, teeth digging into dense Asgardian flesh, keeping him from being able to swing the axe. Keeping hold, he tries to leverage Cerberus up and slam him over onto Orthus.

Cerebus goes over Hal and slammed into his brother. The two dogs crashed to the ground. The two growled and snapped at each other.

Were he at all sensible, he'd let them snap and bite at each other in their fury. He's as wild and enraged as they are, and dives into the mass, leading with a wild swipe of his axe before willingly subjecting himself to being in the middle of a giant dogfight, taking more wounds in order to inflict more.

Cerebus and Orthus were content to snap at each other until the Asgardian came into their midst. The blade caught Orthus across the jaw and he yelped. Cerebus went after the Asgardian.

He's not at all sensible right now - just driven by bloodlust and the raw thrill of the fight.

He swings at Orthus again, getting a chunk of flesh torn into by Cerberus in the process.

The axe hit Orthus in a leg and it buckled under him. The two headed dog went face first to the ground.

Cerebus' jaws clamped down on Hal's leg and tried to lift him off the ground.

The teeth slice into flesh, sever tendons. He's lifted, no longer having the leverage to get in a good swing of the axe - but he swings it anyway, lashing at the head holding his leg.

Cerebus jerked his head, Hal along with it, to avoid the blow. It just nicked him, but he held onto his prey. He started out across the fields heading toward the palace with Hal in his jaws.

Halbjorn roars in fury - he's no one's prize. Finding the axe ineffective, he levers up, ignoring the sound of bone cracking and muscle tearing from the trapped leg in order to get in a swing with the hand closed around the axe handle at Cerberus' face.

Cerebus stumbled from the blow, but he caught himself in time before he smashed into the ground. The man in his jaws was slammed into the ground.

Cerebus continued to move toward the palace.

Halbjorn isn't about to be anyone's chew toy. Broken and bloodied, now slammed, he continues to fight and struggling, swinging at the jaws and flailing madly with the axe.

Once the fight is over, he'll likely pass out quickly when he calms, but while the bear-sark lasts, he's not going to stop fighting until he's dead, or til Cerberus stops moving or retreats.

Cerebus charged across the field, past Hal's teammates and into the throne room. He shook his head back and forth a few times and then released Hal sending him flying through the air.

By the time he gets there, Hal is not at all recognizeable, even to those who know him best. A mass of blood and exposed bone, wielding an equally gore-soaked axe.

the scream, however, is recognizable - he forces himself back up on legs that shouldn't hold him, and rushes back at Cerberus, unaware of any other foe just now.

Cerebus wasn't the only one in the room who thought Hal would make a good chew toy. The hellhounds left in the room went after Hal.

Cerebus had had enough of that axe hitting him. He backed away toward Pluto.
