Corey faced it. She deserved to know. He had to tell Marlow about this. So he called, holding the geneology sketchbook with him.

Sure, Marlow had a cell phone. Sydney arranged for it, as well as a credit card and a team ID card. She didn't often remember where she put it, only that it was in the bungalow.

When it rang, she scrambled to find it in the sofa, running across a pair of Titan's shorts crammed down under the cushions. Everything went flying as she located it and pushed the buttons.

"Hello! It's Marlow, and I'm not a message machine!"

"I'll be right there!" Before he had a chance to say anything in response, she hung up and ran upstairs to change her clothes. She began reciting the teleportation spell as she put on her shoes and grabbed the cell phone and her wallet before it was complete.

In a few seconds she went from a breezy Malibu day to instant humidity in the New Orleans afternoon. Her spell was right on the money. It put her practically on the Champions doorstep.

I just... wanted you to be on the lookout in case your relatives ever came looking for you to carve things in your hands or whatever. I found it in this little shop off Rampart. An old priestess - I forget how to pronounce the word properly -- had it before she died."

They were in every way her parental figures. This was wrong. But Corey had no reason to lie. He didn't even know her really. Maybe it was all a mistake. "May I borrow the book?"
