Dragon Hunting
The sun was bright and the air was crisp with the hint of the cold that was to come with winter. It was the perfect day for hunting and it was exactly what Svalin had planned to do. She walked easily beside the others and was eager to find prey.

She had been awake with the dawn and had been anxious to go. Nine months of sitting around and doing little were past her and it was time to get back out there. The days since Solver's birth had been spent getting back in shape when she wasn't spending time with her family. Hours in the practice yard with anyone who would spar with her and miles of running. She was a bit determined to get back into top shape as quickly as possible.

A bow was in her hand and Vigfrior at her side. She would have loved to bring Tryggvi, but horses and her brother didn't get along well so they walked. Svalin didn't mind. It would only help her get back in top shape.

"Forgive me, it's simply that..I've never actually seen a mortal before." He looks at Vernique almost innocently. "Are all mortals your size?"

"It's okay. And no. Some are bigger, some are smaller. You're pretty tall for an elf yourself, but maybe that's just been my view from up with the archers during the fights."

She shifted the baby in her arms until he was content on her hip, her other hand smoothing his hair before letting him grasp her finger again.

"You are most truely blessed my lady..."

He seemd to tart a bit as if slapped, but covers it quickly. "No, you're right. I am unusually tall for one of my people."

"I know, right!" She says to Iona. "I don't regret any of it. Well, aside from the fact that Svalin couldn't be with Solver's father in the long haul, but these things happen."

"His father?" He asked inquiringly. He manages not to sigh in relief in not asking how the two conceived a bay.

"Yes. Solver's father's not around anymore. It was a bad time," Vernique says simply. Then she's back to cooing over her son. "But it's all going to be okay."

"It is...would you like a story, little one...? I can tell thee of fiersome dragons and terrible giants...of curses and demons and the greatest of warriors, the all-father..." she bounced the baby gently on her hip.

"No demons. No curses. Nothing fearsome or terrible. How about some nice basic stories of non-lethal adventures that turned out okay?"

She opened her mouth...but no sound came out as her brow furrowed with thought. "....huh..."

Kael catches a bit of the dichotomy between the Aesir and the mortal. "Um, forgive my boldness, but..could I try?"

"She ist serious. Lady Vernique doest take being a Mother seriously." Aridis is entertained. "Try what?"

Now with less entertainment!

"Well I..." Kael realized that in his haste he fumbled into a situation he was unaccustomed to. "I..have a few tales. From home."

"No fatalities? No maimings? No badmouthing the Aesir?"

"Well not being able to insult the Aesir does cut the number down slightly." He smiles a little, indicating the joke. "Let's see. There's the tail of how Mithrazil's rescue of the crown prince from the dragon's cave without spilling any blood. There is the tale of how Delkereth of Clan Taerin met, fell in love, and married Nanveral, heiress of Clan Gendarl to found the Taedarl Dynasty. Let's see, what else?" He ponders aloud.

"Love stories and rsecues stories both sound nice. Let's hear one of those, and then later we can hear one of Iona's."
