Dragon Hunting
The sun was bright and the air was crisp with the hint of the cold that was to come with winter. It was the perfect day for hunting and it was exactly what Svalin had planned to do. She walked easily beside the others and was eager to find prey.

She had been awake with the dawn and had been anxious to go. Nine months of sitting around and doing little were past her and it was time to get back out there. The days since Solver's birth had been spent getting back in shape when she wasn't spending time with her family. Hours in the practice yard with anyone who would spar with her and miles of running. She was a bit determined to get back into top shape as quickly as possible.

A bow was in her hand and Vigfrior at her side. She would have loved to bring Tryggvi, but horses and her brother didn't get along well so they walked. Svalin didn't mind. It would only help her get back in top shape.

Thor takes the petition, reading it over, a frown growing as he does so.

"Well met. Please, rise. Thine mother ist most worried about a deep conspiracy. She says here she wast not aware that she hast apparently lost control not simply of a few conspirators... but entire legions and communities... the legions upon legions of dark elves who took part in the last two assaults.

She fears for thy safety... and fears that someone ist trying to take over from within. And she offers an alliance... if we aid in dealing with this conspiracy if found... and if we look after thy safety in the meanwhile, whilst she sends thee where the conspiracy cannot touch thee, in case aught happens to her.

Such an alliance, even in potential, with such a long-time enemy ist too important to pass up... so we wilt agree. Kael, thou wilt be returning to Midgard when mine children go back, whilst thy mother, with our aid, roots out this conspiracy."

"At his mother's request, as a term of an eventual alliance, aye."

"What!?" Kael rises abruptly, but composes himself. "Forgive me Lord Thor, but..I was led to believe this was permission for me to help hunt the traitors in Asgard. I..I do not wish to be sent some where to be protected as if I were a helpless babe! It..it..."

Thor nods. "As did I, until I read the document." he agrees. "Tis not a matter of a couple conspirators... very recently, thousands of Dark Elves joined in assaults on Asgard. Tis not a handful of conspirators." he starts with, letting that sink in.

"Thy mother claims she knew nothing of these military actions by thousands upon thousands of her people. If this ist true... then someone hast usurped a vast measure of her authority, leading to the deaths of many... and covering that up. Whoe'er is ist hast siezed power in the army, and e'en in her own advisory council.

She fears, for all thy skill, with such a massive conspiracy, thou wouldst be dead to poison and treachery in no time. So she hast asked me to send thee to Midgard, amidst mine own children until she can determine who she canst still trust - where any who came after thee wouldst be more obvious. Any mayhap thou canst learn more from there."

The news, all of it, was unsettling to say the least. Kael's face took on a variety of expressions: Anxiety, anger, frustration, resentment, affection, and depression. Finally he seemed to take a reigned countenance. "...I see."

"It wilt be as thou commands," Svalin said with a bow of her head. She found it difficult to accept that she will be living with a dark elf. She didn't trust them and she had a wife and son to see protected. The idea left a bitter taste in her mouth.

"It wilst be all right," Aridis is a voice of reason and hope. "We wilt treat thee as a friend. Thou wilst find that we canst be true as allies and you canst learn what the mortals of Midgar are like. They art fascinating! And shouldst any come after you, thou wist have mine bow."

Kael turns at that. "I..thank you, Lady Aridis. Your kindness is appreciated." He turns to Svalin. "I am sorry this has been brought upon you. I don't imagine this will be easy for either of us, but I will do my best not to be a burden."

He doesn't have to like it. Halbjorn will do his duty... and watch after his sisters.

"Worry not. Thou wilt be kept safe, and we wilt aid thee against this rebellion of traitors."

Besides - he may not like Kael that much yet, on the basis of his species - ancient enemy and all... but he likes traitorous dark elves even less. So its an easy vow.

Svalin nodded. "Aye. We wilt keep thee safe." Svalin may not like it, but she will always do her duty. If the throne commanded it, she will obey.

"And you can use your time here to learn how to tell a *proper* story..." She tried not to sound to bent out of joint at that.
