It's Midnight Cinderella
Anya climbed into the limo and collapsed onto the seat with a smile on her face. It had been a great night. The fundraiser for the museum had been a great success and the collection of treasures of the Russian Imperial family was now on display. Cousin Mikhail had made the trip from Russia specifically for this event, though Anya suspected he would be paying a visit to the family tomorrow or tomorrow evening.

It had been a nice party and a great excuse to go shopping. She had picked up a new dress, new shoes and there was a trip to the spa. So much had been happening between school and the Avengers, she had forgotten what it was like to play dress up. She always enjoyed doing it and would use any excuse to do so.

She was still smiling as she leaned back in the seat.

Stark plottings are not good, but unfortunately Steve does not have the kind of warning bells Toni has developed in regards to sensing it.

"Less pressure on you guys then, I'm betting."

"Mmmhmmm," she agreed. "The last thing Misha and I want to do right now is to find someone, get married and start having kids. Mikhail can do that. It's part of his job."

Talk of the succession was a hot topic of the evening and the last thing Anya wanted to do was talk more about it. It was time to change the subject.

"So do we go home, or do we stay out and find something else the papers can write about in addition to what they already have this evening?"

"How's the song go?" Steve mused, then smiled. "Ah, yeah. 'Let's give 'em something to talk about.'"

Anya grinned. "I like the way you think, Mr. Barton. So I guess the question remains, what do we do? Or should that be what don't we do?"

It's like his Dad says, go big, or don't go at all. Which is probably the carny talking.

"The clubs are still hopping," Steve said. "Which one would make the biggest media splash?"

"I really do like the way you think," she said. "I know the perfect place." She opened the partition and gave the driver their new destination. The partition closed and she leaned back.

"Speaking of splashes, I told my dad we were dating."

Excuse him for a moment. Steve's going to have trouble breathing.

He managed to get control. "...And how did he take that?"

"Well...'Barton?' was repeated a few times before I could get him to say anything else." She shrugged. "It didn't make his condition worse and no heart attack, so I guess it went rather well."

"What about you? How'd your dad take it?" Not that she thought Uncle Clint would have a worse reaction.

Well, that was good news. Now all he had to do was wait to see if Natasha threatened to break his legs or something.

"Yeah... see, thing about that is..."

"You didn't tell him yet." It wasn't a question. "You do realize that it would be better coming from you than your parents reading about it in the paper, right?"

"Yeeeeeah," Steve replied, looking sheepish (a well-practiced look learned from his dad).

"Might make things a little more awkward, huh?"

"You think? Might want to tell him tonight before he reads it tomorrow."

Okay, time to drop that subject. She hated lectures and she wasn't about to start giving them.

She kissed him. "You're adorable."

Whew. Subject-dropping is good.

He kissed her back. "You're something special yourself."

She smiled. "Let's go have some fun. Maybe we'll see another sunrise together again."

A grin spread across Steve's face. "I love the way you think."
