Hartley, Texas
The small town of Hartley, Texas was not much more than a wide spot in the road that was situated about an hour northwest of Amarillo. The town was small and the surrounding area consisted of mostly ranches and farms and nothing special ever happened in Hartely.

Until a meteorite burned across the west Texas night sky and landed just outside the town on property belonging to one Martin Reynolds. Martin promptly hauled the meteor into town in his pickup. The townspeople all gathered around to see the hunk of space debris that had crashed to Earth.

The strange space rock was put in the center of town and over the next few days it was the center of the talk of the town and the focus of their attention.

She squinted in suspicion and confusion. "...You. ...Less talky, more on the ground. Now." And she backs up because something is seriously not right.

"Now why would I want to do that," Chad asks still using his voice to try and mesmerize her.

The scary part of this was a majority of her didn't know why either, even letting her nocked arrow relax from her cheek and posture soften. However there was a small part inside pissed to hell this was happening at all. Anger was good for focusing. "Because it'll be a sad thing if I scratch up that pretty face taking you down."

Chad smiled. "That really would be a shame," He says further trying to mesmerize her, "But wouldn't it just be easier for you to put the bow down."

This was a bad idea. Why was it a bad idea? It was confusing on why there was an ill feeling when putting her weapons down sounded reasonable. She lowered the bow down from draw-height and let up on arrow, letting it go a fraction of the normal pull she used. The arrow buried a measly few feet from her, but the shock triggered the piggyback detonator, exploding the arrow between them.

Frances tapped in to a wide range of curses as she confirmed she was singed but not broken. She felt her bow near a hand and grabbed it as she got up to her feet, shaking her head futilely to stop the ringing in her ears. Where is that son of a-, I've got an arrow with his name on it.

Chad was still on the ground trying to get his bearings, his ears ringing. This was not looking good for him, Chad thought.

She staggered where she stood, dizzy from the hit, but sweeping the landscape for the pretty boy giving her trouble. Hell, she couldn't tell if there had been a call on the comms. Spotting him, she started to draw again.

(ooc: he can slip away if you want.)

Sore from the blast deciding now would be a good time to disappear, Chad rolled over to crawl away.

"No you don't you twisted pain in the ass," she shouted, though she couldn't hear herself and ran to the ledge he had slipped off of. Honestly, she hesitated to shoot at his retreating body, not when she wasn't sure of her senses. "Damnit!"
