Asgard (Open)
It was nearing Solver's first birthday, not that Asgardians really celebrated such, but it had been some time since the mothers, especially MomTwo had some time with her grandson. Einmyria made it a point to send Skari with a message stating such. It was time for a visit while things wert quiet.

No sooner than they had stepped foot into the Great Hall, then Einmyria scooped Solver up to take him to go dote upon him. Eir and Astrid were tagging along after her to play with their nephew. Svalin went to go to talk to her father first. Then find some sparring partners. She brought her bat'leth to use against Asgard's warriors to test her abilities with it.

There was also the quest to find the Crimson Hawk the Norns spoke about.

First thing's first. She went to see her father.

	"It ist a shame," she agreed as she brought the Bat'leth around in sweeping motion. The curve of the blade caught the edge of his sword and pulled it down with her blade. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Having seen this move in the previous rounds, Brandr manages to get his sword out at the last moment. Though he'd admit that without his reflexes and having seen this before it would have gotten him. He hadn't expected that move so early, he wanted to keep his distance and figure out the fighting style before the close combat started. So he goes on the defensive a bit and puts some distance between them.

	"Nay," Svalin answered. The key to using the Bat'leth is to use it like a staff with points. To use it as a sword would get one nowhere. She brought it up and held it before her with both hands and waited for him to make his move. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Ah, waiting for her to make a move wasn't going to work. He'd need to do it instead. Keeping on the balls of his feet so he could quickly move away when needed, Brandr steps in and starts with a quick succession of rapid-fire jabs. As evidenced by her last move, swings weren't going to work if she could keep catching his sword. He needed to be fast about it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin wasn't exactly flat-footed herself. She was ready for the attack. She stepped to the side and used the Bat'let to push the sword to one side. She followed the block with and elbow aimed at his head. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He ducks to narrowly dodge the elbow and follows with a jab of his own from his free hand. Reflexes were a big help when fighting someone of this skill level. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin twisted and caught the punch on her upper right arm. She rolled her wrists over to turn the weapon and tried to hit him in the face with the back side of the bat'leth coming from the left side. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	In this position it's hard to dodge that one well so while he does manage to avoid the full force of the attack, he still gets hit and pushed away a bit. Though he takes advantage of the opportunity to disengage and leap away. Once in the right range he'll go for another few rapid sword jabs. Swords needed some distance after all. 	The jabs are a little hard to block with the Bat'leth, but Svalin removed one hand and used the other to bring the bat'leth down in a swing on the top of the sword. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Instead of moving the sword away when he saw the bat'leth come down, he lets it be driven into the ground and instead uses his free hand to make a grab for her free one so that he could get it so that they both had their hands occupied.

Then he does what most people wouldn't expect him to do. He lets go of his sword.

With a step in, he takes advantage of their proximity and comes in with a powerful punch aimed at her solar plexus.

	The move catches her off guard and the punch connected. The breath whooshed out of her and she struggled for a moment to inhale. The bat'leth fell to the stones with a loud clatter. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He doesn't waste time waiting for her reaction or next move. Instead, he twists to reach over and grab his sword, whose point had been driven down between the stones, and point it at her as fast as he can. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	A smile springs to his face. Interesting, but foreign, weapon out of the way and now the real battle could begin. His favourite type too. He doesn't want to give her much time to recover from his last hit so immediately steps in with a quick swing at her weak side. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin brought her sword around to block the blow. The swords clashed with a clear ring. Svalin smiled and turned her wrist to try to smash the pommel into his face. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Brandr keeps it up and the smile on his face just grows. It was rare he got to have a real sword fight like this, she certainly knew how to be a challenge. As the fight continues he speeds up his attacks, really getting into the spar. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin kept moving and kept her sword moving. His attacks were coming quicker and harder with each one. She manages to block almost all, but a few make it through her defenses and nick her arms and legs. She blocked an attack and went on the offensive. Her sword was moving quickly and she pressed the attack. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Despite being put on the defensive, he doesn't seem any less pleased. It was rare he was put on the defensive when it wasn't his choice. Taking her attacks in stride he keeps up his blocking as he plans his next move. First to get her in close. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

He continues defending, waiting for her to come in close where it's harder to get one's sword out of the way after an attack. Waiting for a moment, at her next attack when their swords clash, he pushes forward and locks their swords to turn it into a battle of strength.

Well, not really. He didn't do strength battles. This was just to distract her long enough so that his free hand reaches to grab her sword hand so she can't escape. Then he steps forward, putting his foot behind one of hers and tries to sweep her off her feet.

	Little did he know that her sword arm was a prosthetic and stronger than what her flesh and blood arm would have been. She easily broke free of his grasp, but she didn't see his foot go behind hers. Momentum made her step back and she tripped over his foot. Svalin landed on the ground on her ass. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Her arm's unusual strength surprised him and she breaks free. Fortunately at least this freed his sword from being locked to hers and once she falls he brings it back up to point at her neck. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
