The City By The Bay
The car arrived at the Avengers mansion to pick Buck up and take him to the airport where the private jet was waiting. A few hours later the jet would touch down in San Francisco airport where Anya would be waiting for him holding a sign that said "Buck Rogers" on it.

"Unless you're the Yankees," Anya said echoing his thoughts. "I can't believe they got swept. It's so disappointing."

"Bound to happen sooner or later with A-Rod struggling and expecting Jeter to be the same guy he was five years ago. Not much in the farm system either, last I heard. Yankees might have to get used to just barely getting into the playoffs for a few years to restock."

"We'll just buy new talent like we always do," Anya said. It was a main criticism of her team that they didn't bother to develop talent, they just bought it.

"Which is why they'll still make the playoffs, might just be a nearer thing than in the years of Super-Jeter. Of course, it might work, but its hard to buy team chemistry."

"I wish it weren't the case," Anya said. "The titles are nice, but it'd be nice to have a team not thought of as buying talent and earning those titles."

"But that's not the Yankee way. And its a trade off, if they did it the way most teams have to, sure, they'd get a lot more genuine respect for it, but they also wouldn't be in 1 out of every 4 series, and in the playoffs every year."

"I know. Anyway, steak for dinner and then the ballgame." Of course she also had made arrangements for him to meet the team, but that would be a surprise.

Down the road, he won't be too shocked she'd do a thing like that - right now, definitely not expecting it.

"I like this plan. You all ready for dinner?"

"I was waiting for you to get here," she said. "I'm starving." A grin. "And for more than just food."

"If it weren't the Giants in the playoffs, I'd be tempted to stay in by that statement. Let's go... and plan for a late night."

He returns the kiss, hands roaming a little before making himself stop, turning and offering her an arm instead.

"Ok, so steak dinner then."

"We'll want to do the shopping on the way then, before it gets too crazy. So sporting goods shop - all of which should be packed with Giants gear about now, then steak, then game. Got it. You'll look great all properly geared up though."

"We could, but the pro shop there will be packed. It would take a lot more time, and involve a lot more fighting through people than hitting the mall on the way."

"You know me, fashionably late most of the time." Well it was usually more losing track of time, but fashionably late sounded better.

"Hopefully," she said. "We do tend to balance each other out pretty well." Which was probably good for everyone around them.
