Time for Jazz to meet her future team mates.

She had slept alright the night before and the bed was more comfortable then her own. Now she was freshened up and ready to face the day in her favorite beige pants, purple button up top, black shoes and winning Stark grin. This was how her Tony taught her to take on new situations. She wanted to make a good first impression on what might be a team of people that she would be working with plus it was the Avengers, all her father ever talked about and her dream team.   She headed down to the rec room and hoped she wasn’t late.

Tony looked the girl over for a long moment. She was very pretty; that was easy to see. He could also sense her apprehension. As a businessman, Tony knew nervousness when he saw it. He'd closed many a business deal by seizing on it the moment it appeared.

But he remembered how he used to feel in his father's presence, like a very small boy standing in the shadow of a giant. It was hard to know what to say to a man like that, but Tony remembered how he wished he'd been spoken to. He made it a point to remember that with Jadzia.

"Normally, when I do this sort of thing, I try the telepathic approach first, just to see what info I get. Then I remember that I don't have telepathy. I left that suit at home." he said, chuckling a bit.

"My name is Tony Stark, by the way. You're Jadzia, right? How's the house treating you?" he asked, stuffing his hands into his pockets. The reactor in his chest was visible beneath his shirt if she looked at him.

He didn't know if she was a tech-person, like him, or if her talents lay in other areas. He didn't want to assume anything, so he waited for her to speak up.

Suit at home? Hers was always on her person and stored in her arc reactor which was not as seeable under her shirt. JVD made shirts that where thick enough to hide her reactor but vented to keep her cool. "I.I know who you are. Your look just like the you from my dimension or universe or whatever you call it." She smoothed her pants again.

"Everyone is treating me well, they are nice and the beds are oddly soft." She gave a soft smile. "Jarvis is nice too. I didn't get to know the real one where I'm from so that was nice." Her hands itched for tools. "You can call me Jazz if you want," she added as an aside "everyone else does." She was running out of polite things to talk about so she decided to go after what was most on her mind. "I hear that you and Na-Na-" she was stumbling over the name so she went a different way "Black Widow are married." There that was out but she didn't have anything else to add that didn't sound spiteful.

"We get a great deal from the Oddly Soft Bed store. After Reed sold them the unstable molecule patent, he put that Mattress Firm place out of business." Tony said, offering her a genuine smile.

"Totally joking about that. Just some Unstable Molecule humor to lighten the mood."

The poor girl seemed a bit freaked out, which was probably normal in a case like this. Inter-dimesional travel was probably hell on the psyche in some fashion.

"Starks aren't like everyone else, Jadzia. By the way, that's a pretty name. I really like it." he said. "Yes, Tasha and I are married. We have three children. Anya, Misha and Nick." he said.

And now that she'd broken down that barrier, he could ask a few questions of his own.

"Can you tell me about where you're from? Are you noticing any major differences from your home, compared to here?"

She knew Starks weren't like everyone else but she wanted him to be comfortable around her to make this easier. She figured that it wasn't easy having a daughter he never knew drop in his life unless it did happen often. "I know, our motto is nos vincet, We Will Surpass." She said with a faint smile remembering the coat of arms above their kitchen table with that painted in the banner. When he said that there were three other Starklings she wasn't to shocked but didn't know what to say so she decided to tell him about her world.

"Co-Earth was a great place but not the older generations real home. Dad told me that one moment they were in their own reality and the next they were on this new barren planet that mirrored their own. There was also a second group of people there that said they had gone through the same thing but they didn't know them." She pause to figure where to go from there. "When they couldn't find a way home they made lives for themselves and had kids."

"Aside from the obvious, there's more cars here and from what I've seen the population is spread over more of the planet then is really needed. We lived in small clusters around each other, grew our own food, and were very environmentally friendly. Stark Inc was on the forefront of environmentally safe tech, I was in charge of building a lot of the new tech." She smiled remembering the phone she completed before coming here. "We also had a different government, a council of twelve that made most of the decisions after we all voted." She tried to think of other things but was drawing a blank. "That's all I can think of at the moment. There might be more that will come to me later." She hoped that helped him some.

Tony listened with great interest as Jadzia spoke about her home. Her mention of the some of the older people being from another dimension of their own sparked his interest and he reminded himself to ask her about that later on, when she was more comfortable.

He picked up immediately on her being a science person and that brought a smile to his face. Another gear-head in the family made Tony happy. Being able to discuss things with Anya was always great but, eventually, he hoped that Jadzia would be willing to join in. The idea of having an extra person around to bounce ideas and counter-ideas off of excited the elder Stark, especially since he knew he wouldn't always be here.

Perhaps Anya and Jadzia would turn to each other when he wasn't around anymore. A man had to think about his legacy, after all.

"Well, I can tell you that Stark is constantly working on environmentally safe technology as well as ways to improve the world we live in. Intelli-crops are just one of those ways, but if you're ever up to talking about it, I'd love to hear more about your world. But let's do that at your pace. We're a little more spread out here, like you said, but between social media and the internet, it's not difficult to stay in touch." Tony told her.

He paused for a moment to think something over.

"Have you given any thought to what you might do now that you're here? There's absolutely no pressure to stay, of course. If you'd like to go elsewhere, I'm sure we can work something out. But if you did want to stay, what do you see yourself doing?" he asked gently.

She frowned and tried to explain the population thing better. "It's not really about staying in touch as much as it was about not over taxing the planet. We used the country you call Canada to house the population and used the better part of the USA for growing food and raising cattle. Other meat was free ranged and hunted in their own environment." She hoped that made it a little more clear and if not she would gladly elaborate further.

She didn't think about what she would do yet. "The original plan was to bring dad back to his universe along with the others that were displaced but I didn't get there and after thinking about it that would have been a bad idea." She looked down at the floor while thinking. "I could look into a job somewhere, I can build almost anything. I don't want to get in the way of your family here." Which was true, she didn't want to get in the way or take anything from them.

Tony nodded as she explained how people lived in her world. The population numbers there were dramatically lower than his world if everyone could live comfortably in Canada, which was by no means a small place. Using a large part of the United States for growing food made Tony wish he could see this place up close. He had so many questions now.

"Well...before you decide that you're in the way, can I ask you to meet the rest of the family? If you don't want to, that's okay, but I'd like you to consider it. Then maybe we can discuss what you want to do next. Tasha and Nick are in the kitchen having cookies. You could meet them and then we can find out when Anya and Misha are around so you can talk to them, too." he said.

"I don't think you'll be in the way at all, Jadzia. But let's give everyone a chance to get to know each other before we make any other decisions."

He smirked.

"An old guy like me needs time to think things over now and again. Don't tell anyone I said that. They'll never believe you." he grinned.

She would have laughed if he didn't want her to meet Tasha. While this was not the woman who walked away from her while she was in surgery and could have died she looked just like her and was this worlds version of her. It didn't make her feel better about Tasha but it seemed very important to Tony and while they had a different relationship where she was from she liked making him happy. But she needed to lay down some ground rules.

"I will meet her with conditions." She put her hands at her sides where she was hoping her wouldn't see them shake. "I'm not going to be all lovely lovely with her and I would prefer that she doesn't touch me. I don't know if Jarvis filled you in but me and my genetic donor didn't have a relationship at all. She left me with you and left." She tried to keep her voice as calm and level as possible but there was bitterness in there as well. "I know logically that your wife isn't the same as the woman from my world but I can't separate them that well yet." She looked away from him for a moment. "I will try thought."

Tony heard out the conditions. While his first instinct was to try to talk Jadzia into trusting Tasha, he had to force himself to remember that Jadzia was new here; simply because /he/ knew that Tasha wouldn't treat her poorly didn't mean that Jadzia would immediately trust his word. Still, she didn't say no outright and that was progress.

"All right. I'll let her know your conditions and I'll make sure she abides by them. You're going to see that she's not the same woman. Eventually, I hope you'll at least talk to her like you're talking to me. She's an amazing woman; I'm sorry that the woman who gave birth to you didn't measure up." he said genuinely.

"But if you need to talk or you need something, I hope you'll keep me in mind while you're here all right? And if not me, then someone. That's all I ask." Tony said.

"Is there anything else you'd like to know or would you like me to ask Tasha to come in? I'll stay for the conversation if you want. No pressure." he said.

"I will be polite with her which is all I can offer right now and it would be a good idea that you stay in the room." It was irrational but him being in the room made her much more comfortable. "Someday I might be able to talk to her the way I talk to you but I've know you all my life and we're both tech-heads." She gave him a small smile. "Plus I have good and embarrassing memories of you or my you anyway." This whole him being her dad but not her dad thing was more confusing then it should be to her.

"Then we can work with that right now. Let me go speak to her and let her know your ground rules, all right? Then you can meet your little brother. He's a lot of fun." Tony grins.

With that, he'll excuse himself and go to the kitchen to speak with Tasha. He knew Tasha would agree to the rules to keep things calm but he wanted her prepared for someone who would be distant. He knew his wife. Her first instinct would be to get to know the young woman and try to comfort her. Oddly enough, Tony saw several similarities between them already.

Natasha listened to Tony and better understood the situation. At least the girl was willing to talk to her. It wasn't much, but it was at least something.

Natasha couldn't fathom just abandoning a child like the girl's mother had. Natasha hadn't been the primary parent for Anya or Misha, but she still loved her kids and had made every effort to be around as much as she possibly could.

She agreed to the terms and waited in the kitchen with Nick. It was better to let the girl approach her than for Natasha to approach the girl. She occupied Nick by giving him cookies and telling him a story in Russian.

She was doing her best to not hide in her suit or look for a wardrobe to hide in either. She didn't want to show any fear since it would either anger them or make them feel sorry for her and she didn't need that right now. She needed to show that she was strong and could handle people that she might like at the current moment. If this Natasha was different then she would learn to like her, she would learn to treat her the way she treated Tony but she would have to find that out and it might take sometime.

When she made it to the kitchen she saw Natasha standing there with a toddler in her arms and it made her breath catch to think that her mother never held her like that. She tried to recover as quick as she could and kept a comfortable distance between to the two of them. "Hello. Nice to meet you." Finally.

Natasha gave the girl a smile. "Hello, Jadzia. It's nice to meet you." She turned Nick so he could see the new family member. "Nick sweetheart, say hi to Jadzia."

"Hi," the almost-two-year-old said with a big smile. "Want a cookie?" He held out the cookie he had been munching to her.

She gave Nick a smile and politely declined the cookie offer from the two year old. She was to nervous to eat. "Hello Nick, it's nice yo meet you." He was to adorable to not make her feel a bit more at ease. "You can call me Jazz if you'd like." She thought that might be easier to say then Jadzia.

She looked up at Natasha and had not clue what to say now. "How are you?" Small talk would work for now.

"Okay," Nick said and then shoved his cookie in his mouth.

"I'm fine, thank you." Natasha gave her a reassuring smile. "How are you? I'd imagine that ending up in a new dimension can be quite a shock. Were you hurt when you arrived? Are you settling in okay? Is there anything you need? Clothes or anything else?"

So much for small talk. She had to surprise a smile, the way Natasha was talking reminded her of aunt Carol who was always worried about any little scrape or cut they got when they were children. The shock might have registered on her face. "Yes, considering it's not the dimension I was aiming for." She rubbed her hands on her pant legs a little uncomfortable with this which she mentally reprimanded herself about. She didn't birth Jazz but this woman was still her mother and cared for her. She coouldn't fault her for that. "I wasn't hurt, just shaken a bit. I don't think I need anything, Jarvis gave me toiletries and I have a couple of outfits with me so I should be okay for clothing." That was a half like. She had two pairs of pants, four shirts and three sets of undergarments but again, she didn't want to burden anyone.

Tony remained in the background as the women talked, making faces at Nick while he ate his cookies. Once the women started talking, however, he felt himself relax quite a bit as well. Jadzia still seemed a bit reserved but that was expected.

Tasha made him proud, as always. She wanted to help Jadzia but she let the young woman come to her, rather than trying to push her. His wife was one of the best people he knew and he knew that Jadzia was in good hands. Still, Tony reminded himself to have Jarvis help Jadzia with some extra clothing during her time here.

"Nick, can Dad have a cookie?"

"Okay," Nick said and grabbed another cookie off the plate and offered it to Tony.

Natasha nodded as she listened. A couple of outfits just won't do. Especially if she was anything like Anya or Tony.

"Good to hear that. Sometimes popping into a new dimension is a bit rough. It's a good start," she said. "Tony and I will make sure you have an ID and resources to acquire whatever you need. Anya has a room here and she has a closet full of clothes and shoes. Feel free to raid that until we get you set up and you can go shopping for what you like. I'm sure Anya or Tony will be happy to hook you up with computer, phone and access to the labs if you're into that." The kid was a Stark.

"Thank you." She would some day kill people with kindness. "Wouldn't Anya have a problem with me wearing her clothing?" Last thing she needed was to make a sister she had never met angry by wearing her clothing. "A lab would be nice, I haven't tinkered with anything since I've been here." Which to her was a long time.

"No, she wouldn't mind. She has more clothes that she could possibly wear and she'd go out of her way to help," Natasha assured her. "As for the lab you need to talk to Tony and Anya. They have the labs."
