Open scene at x-mansion
Having helped with the car washing for a while, a slightly troubled Lucas has moved off to sit in the grass, discarding his sirt and jacket - easier to meditate that way. He chants softly, almost inaudibly, pausing every now and then to look about, or cock his head as if listening to someone or something.

Summer dipped a stage bow with a flourish. "Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all... well, year I suppose. A year and then some."

He laughs. "Good to know. After life on the road, you ought to find it pretty comfortable here once you get settled."

"I think I will. I've already discovered this glorious new thing called 'unpacking', which I have never done before. It's really quite fascinating. Things get put in a place and they stay there." She grinned, obviously joking, but there was also some truth to her amazement. It was nice to be able to have a space to call her own that wasn't already claimed for someone else a week down the road.

"You want any help with that, or getting things set up or moved around? My unpacking took maybe ten minutes, mostly moving everything extra out of the room. But I've heard some horror stories about trying to make room for everything in the dorm rooms."

"The biggest problem I had was fitting my trunk in. I left most of my magic stuff with my ex-manager, but there were a few things I couldn't part with." She shrugged. "I just use it as furniture. It's sitting under the window for more seat space."

"I'm used to living in hotel rooms. This isn't a whole lot different. Just no mini bar."

"I can understand that. I never really had much beyond what would fit in one of those climber's packs. Not a lot of point. I'm still almost never in my room, so didn't see much need for the seating."

"It's habit more than anything else. I had to find a lot of ways to entertain myself in my hotel rooms while I was on the road. I never think much about going out. I need to break the habit, I guess."

"Depends on your definition of out. Some people are really into the expeditions, some of us usually don't wander too far. There's a lot to do on the grounds too."

"Like what, for instance?" She smiled. "Besides washing cars and meditating. Neither of which I have any experience or talent with."

"Camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, taking in some sun, boating. And should none of those be your thing, I believe that there's two lounges with large screen TVs, stereo systems, and several hundred DVDs. Plus, being a school and all, baseball and basketball games break out pretty often. I'm also hoping there's enough people who can skate to play some hockey this winter."

"Wow, that is a lot. This place is even bigger than I imagined." She glanced around and tried to imagine it all. Looked like she had some more exploring to do. "The swimming sounds great. Camping and hiking, too. I'm afraid I've never done any ice skating, so I won't be able to help you with your hockey goal. I'd make an awesome cheerleader, though."

"I could teach you if you're interested. If not, yeah, cheerleaders are always welcome. Water is a little cold for most of the students right now to do a lot of swimming, but I like it... for maybe three more weeks at most. If you want a map to some of the better camping spots and hiking trails, I can draw one up for you. I think Moira, Danielle and I are the main people you'd run into back there."

"Could be fun to learn. I foresee a lot of time spent falling on my backside in the pursuit of ice skating." She chuckled. "You're right about the cold, though. I'll wait until warmer weather comes around to do any swimming, I think."

"Falling down is part of learning to skate. I recommend lots of padding. Can't blame you on the swimming though. Still some decent days left for other outdoors stuff though."
