Date Night
There were a lot of things on Migard one could indulge in, but Svalin only had two. The first was chocolate. She couldn't get enough of it and loved it in any form. The other was a shower. Svalin loved showers. She took one every day, not because training and working with the horses worked up a sweat and usually left her quite fragrant, but because she loved the feel of hot water falling down on her.

Svalin stepped out of the shower and quickly toweled herself off. She wrapped the large turkish bath towel around herself and stepped out into her bedroom. Now to find something to wear. What did one wear on a date?

"Aye, thou'rt most sensible. Excess ist to be avoided generally." He enjoyed a good feast as much as anyone but was never the type to go overboard with anything but his swordfighting. After all, he did have a post to get to the next day usually and it did no good to show up at anything less than your best. Though here he was almost always 'on duty' technically so there was no worry about any excess on his part.

Svalin smiled and blushed a bit when he put his hand on hers. She turned hers so she could hold his. "Mayhap," she said. Svalin was never one to be irresponsible and the one time in her life she was, well she had the proof in a dark haired, blue-eyed adorable son.

The car pulled up in front of the restaurant and Svalin handed some bills to the driver. She had finally figured out Migard money.

If he knew what she was thinking, he'd have pointed out that asking someone not to worry about responsibilities or be 'the responsible one' wasn't the same as asking for irresponsibility. There were always judgement calls and common sense that came into play.

Not knowing anything about Midgard economics or money, Brandr let Svalin take the lead on this one and show where the restaurant was too. He wasn't too prideful to acknowledge he didn't know something.

	Svalin climbed out of the taxi and waited for Brandr. Out of habit she scanned the area looking for any threats. She shook her head. This was a date and she shouldn't expect any trouble. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Brandr wasn't far behind, he'd already done his scan for threats and unlike her, he didn't shake himself out of doing so. It was a completely normal and to-be-expected thing from him. Sure, he was off duty technically, but there was always a chance, and years of being on the guard had the instinct become so ingrained that he didn't realize he was doing it until he'd already begun.

When he gets to her he gives her the usual dashing smile and bows slightly with his arm extended to her go first. "Milady?"

	He lets her lead until they reach the door where he opens it for her. He was curious about trying more Midgard food, he'd heard some good things about some of it. Though a lot still baffled him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Not having as much experience with Midgard culture, Brandr discreetly pays attention to what she's doing and imitates her. Napkin on lap now he looks around, wonder how this worked. The host handed them menus and then disappeared.

"These art menus," she said. "If thou needst help reading it I wilt help thee." Most Asgardians didn't read their language let alone another. Svalin had learned to read English not long after arriving. Mortals books, specifically the military ones, were interesting.

"They wilt come and ask what we wouldst like in a few moments."

	Brandr considers the menus, turns them over in his hands, and causally flips through his, curious about how this works. "Aye, and we pick off the menu?" Obviously unable to read the English, he closes his menu after his curiosity about it is fulfilled, sets it down and smiles at her again. "Then I shalt have whatever the lady recommends." 	His first thought is why should it be limited to one if they have all three but there was etiquette to consider. 	"I have an idea," she said with a smile. When the waitress came over Svalin ordered a few dishes, enough to give them a good variety of food. They were Asgardians and could eat a lot more than a human. Svalin ordered a bottle of wine. It wasn't mead, but some Migard wines were quite good. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"But thou doth giveth it anyway," Svalin said. "Not that I doth mind."

Svalin thought about that question. There were so many different kinds of food on Migard, much more than what was available in Asgard, and it was hard to pick favorites.

"Whilst chocolate ist mine favorite, I doth like the many different ways they prepare meat. There art many more ways than what we art used to."
