Open Mic Night at the Screaming Banshee
It was Open Mic Night at the Screaming Banshee, a nightclub in new York, and open to all ages. Bands, singers and poets from all over the city were in attendance. The place was crowded, loud and the people were having fun.

Daniel and Elaine had called and invited a bunch of them to open mic night, which sounded like fun and since it was all ages...parent approved too. Ben figured it was about time Dante met some hero-kid friends and had asked the people involved if they'd be okay with bringing him along, and also asked Dante if he was cool with his ID stuff being open to the other kids. You always had to consider ID things.

And anyway, Dante was way too busy way too often, he needed to hang out more. So, meeting new friends and going to hear some music. At least they were guaranteed one act being good.

"Trust me man, you'll love them. Rufus will prank you a lot, but he does that to everyone and it's expected so don't worry about it."

"Stop acting like I don't get out and have a social life," Dante teased. "I have a very active social life." It was part of the reason he never had time. There was his band, the school musical, and a few other irons he had in the fire. He just didn't have any hero friends outside of Ben. He had met a few Avenger kids, but they were only associates, not friends.

"Thanks for inviting me along. I appreciate it."

"But you do like...productive stuff during your social life. That hardly counts then." Ben was the opposite, he didn't hang out with too many non-hero kids, mostly because it was more of an effort to be comfortable around them and remember the no power use thing.

"Hey, no worries, about time you met some of them anyway," Ben smiled as they made their way over to where the people waiting for their turn to play were. He figured he'd find the others gathered there.

Elaine came in with her guitar slung on her back. She slightly regretted not owning any hockey jerseys. Would have gone great for their second song; if they had time to play it. After much fascinating further debate, they'd decided to start with the Joplin.

Her brain was carefully reiterating all their various reasonings back to her when she spotted Ben. Elaine raised a hand in greeting as she approached.

Rufus walked in and gave a wave to Ben before heading over.

Truth be told Rufus was using this trip more as an excuse to go to New York for some shopping for his latest prank idea he had. It had cost him more than he would have liked but Lyta's reaction to it would totally be worth it. Getting some of her same clothes five sizes too small but with her regular sized labels would just drive her crazy.

Ben waves to everyone in turn as they arrive, realizing he was missing something when Dante introduced himself. "Oh shoot, I keep forgetting the introduction stuff. Dante, this is Elaine, Rufus, Daniel, and Ellie," he said, pointing them each out in turn in the order they'd arrived in. "And this is my friend Dante! He's good with music stuff too and, well all sorts of stuff really."

"Side job's been going great," he grinned as they left to find a table. By side job of course he meant the recent foray into costumed web slinging. "Got some cool tricks down, should totally show you if we can use the Danger Room next time I come visit. What about? Get anyone with anything spectacular recently?" Hey, he appreciated his friend's pranks for their ingenuity, mostly when not aimed at him of course.
