Flashback: You're s'pposed to be married to play house (Open to the Wives)
"Ev'rybody says so." Eight year old Misha tossed his ball up and tried to catch it in his new mitt. "Mommies and Daddies have to be married. So I can't play house with you girls."

"Gotta sign a license an' a prenupshal agreement. That's a deal that means the boy can't take your books just 'cause you're married."

"Yeah, it's 'fishal. We can do all the stuff with holding hands with the veil and the yellow thing and purple ribbons -- well, maybe purple -- like your mom's in the pictures, too." Sylvie carefully scrawls out 'No taking bikes or books.' in black, adds 'Sylvie' in pink, and hands the paper and the other crayons to Misha.

They weren't making a whole lot of sense, but Misha was used to it. If they cried, he'd get in trouble with Dad for making them sad.

He peered at the writing. "Did your dad have one so your mom can't take his Twinkies? 'Cause I think she ate some of 'em."

You've got to say either 'I do' or ..." unfortunately, Sylvies Latin ran together a bit and had a pronounced Puerto Rican accent.

Misha didn't immediately wipe at the spot because Dad said that hurt girls' feelings. You weren't s'posed to hurt girls. Which didn't make a whole lot of sense to his eight year old brain because he'd seen the aunts and uncles practicing in the Danger Room and the aunts were girls and they got hurt sometimes by the uncles. Dad said he'd understand when he was older.
