Moonlight Sonata
It had been almost a week since Dolemeck and Tyler had moved into their new apartment complex. Being as it was already furnished, they did not need to bring in any of the furniture from the old place, or do much decorating. But that did not stop Dolemeck from working on his own room. He had put up pictures of the people who mattered to him on the walls. His parents, his cousin Derek Woo, a picture of himself and Argo on a boat, and even a picture of himself and Tyler in Germany, with their tour guide Gerta.

Just a she was about to put up another picture, there was a knock on the door of the apartment. He placed down the picture frame that was in his hands and went to go open the door.

"Well, I cannot deny a lady her request. Go right ahead." He smiled. His hand turned the doorknob of his room and opened the door for Jo.

Inside of his room was interesting. His desk was set up for woodcarving with rather primitive tools, one wall had picture frames set up in a pattern. They were of family, friends, even one of Dolemeck at work. Above his bed were two swords securely displayed on the wall, with a coat of arms in front of them.

There was an empty bird cage by his bedroom window, and some books laying about on one side of his bed (Mostly GED books and a few on bird care). The room itself was a bit large, but it appeared Dolemeck had yet to fill up most of the empty space.

Jo stops and stares at the swords, taking glances at everything else along the way. "Are those real?"

"Aye, those are real." He walked over to the side of the bed and took one of the swords off the wall, without causing the coat of arms to shake or fall off. He held the sword up with ease, then offered it to Jo to hold and feel the weight of it.

She takes the sword, her arms falling a bit from the weight of it. "Cool... this something you had from olden times, or is it new?"

"No one knows what happened to my original blades." Dolemeck admitted sadly. "They are all probably rusted or on display somewhere in a museum, just as my tabard is. These were made for me by the Atlas Foundation as a gift. No Knight should ever be without a blade."

He moved over to Jo's side and helped her lift the blade up, smiling a bit as he did so. His hands were on top of hers, his chest pressed against her back as he helped her to bring the sword back into a proper fighting position.

Well this is... rather intimate. Jo takes note, but gives him the benefit of the doubt for now. She's never had anyone instruct her with a sword before.

"So, I hold it like this and I'm a badass?"c

"Holding a sword does not make one a "bad ass", Mi'lady." Dolemeck smiled a little more, enjoying how close he was to Jo. But in all honesty he was worried she would drop the sword and accidentally cleave something in half. Or worse, hurt herself.

"Being able to use a sword and kill efficiently makes you a "bad ass". But in my book, you already are one, as you have been slaying monsters way before I even joined this group."

With much care, Dolemeck took his sword back from Jo and walked around her to put it back securely in it's holder. He then turned to her.

She takes a few moments to appreciate the weight and balance of the weapon, before Dolemeck takes it away.

"Cool."

"Thank you." He smiled back before picking up some of the books on his bed and placing them on a nightstand so Jo could have a place to sit. His nightstand had a few pharmaceutical bottles on it, as well as a calendar and date book.

"Please, have a seat. Make yourself comfortable."

She hadn't really been planning on staying in his room, but he seemed to have something he was excited about, so she figured she'd humor him.

Dolemeck walked over to his wood working desk and picked up the flute he was working on.

"I know you said you did not need anymore nicknacks... but the flute I crafted can be played." He smiled proudly, walking over and handing it over to Jo for her to inspect. He had carved an interesting picture around the flute.

The top part depicted "Heaven", with angels hovering above with various instruments. The bottom part depicted "Hell" with demons that held pitch forks and dancing around a fire. The middle, however had six characters on "Earth". One was playing what looked like a lute and had a long dress on, then there was what looked like a werewolf in front of her, a man holding a stake came after the werewolf, a woman with what appeared to be a staff was next, a regular looking man was came after her, and finally there was a man with a sword and demon horns on his head.

Despite the carvings being small, they were quite detailed.

"...wow... this... this is really something, Dolemeck." She takes it gingerly, turning the flute over in her hands, looking at the details.

"You made my butt look great in that dress." She says, for lack of anything more profound.

That last statement caught him off guard. He rubbed the back of his head, his cheeks a bit flushed.

"Well, you do have a nice bum." He cleared his throat and went to change the subject. "All that is left for me to do is to apply ink so that the carvings stand out a bit more. And then maybe some sealant... like in cherry wood."

She hands the flute back, smiling at him. "It's really pretty. I bet it'll look fantastic."

She heads back out from the bedroom, leaning against the back of the couch as she takes in the place again. "Seems like you two are very cozy here."

"I am sure it will." He carefully took the flute back, placing it upon his work desk once more. Dolemeck then followed Jo out of his bedroom, closing the door behind him.

"It is quite cozy here, aye. Better than when I lived in the barracks, that is for sure." He chuckled, shadowporting by Jo's side and taking a seat on the floor behind the couch. "And much better than when I lived with Lord Gawain."

"So what do you think of this time? I always hear that story type of character who thinks the modern world has lost their soul... that there's no morality left in humanity... that we're wasting our lives in petty pursuits of pleasures of the flesh, that sort of thing." She glances down at him.

"It was hard to adjust at first, mostly because there are more freedoms in this era than in mine." He never was asked such a question before, so this one was a little shocking.

"I did not understand the "pleasure of the flesh" until a few months ago. In my time, many were scared to even try such things because religion was a way of life. The church had more social influence than it does, now. Men could pay for a woman's dowry to marry her, even if she did not love him back. Nobles forced to marry cousins to keep the bloodlines pure. In some cases, children as young as thirteen married and then began to have children of their own soon after. They married so young because lifespans were painfully short. Because of all of this, there was so much sadness, and many infidelities which caused the spread of disease."

"But in this era, you can choose who you wish to experience such things with. Explore all possibilities of sex and love without having to marry first. No one is forced to be with someone they do not wish to be with, so people are much happier."

She smiles and nods. Guy seems to have a particularly narrow focus so far. He must have been party to, or at least privy to, some relationship nightmares of one kind or another.

"And the rest of it? Art? Tech? Movies?" She grins. "Music?"

"I have not been to a movie theater, yet." He admitted. "And most of the movies I was allowed to see at the foundation were black and white. I have never used a computer before, learned to drive a car, or really heard any modern forms of music... other than when I am at work. I have not been exposed to much artwork, either..."

"Miss Jo, might I ask you something? Well... may I ask you something that may be a bit odd and if it offends you, you can hit me as hard as you like?"

"Really? Never been to the movies? Well shit, we gotta fix that. I think there's an art house downtown showing a recovered reel of 'The Black Marvel Strikes'. Still black and hite, but a place we can work you up to modern blockbusters from. As for music, I've got plenty of stuff to load you up on. Everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top." Jo grins, before the next part comes along.

"I... guess? What's wrong?"

"Well, you are a woman. So you might know the answer to this... I hope." He looked a bit embarrassed. "I have a girlfriend in New Orleans, her name is Diana... and well... we do not go out and do things normal couples do very often. She has a hard time trying to maintain her err... "human form". Turns out she's sort of a... she-devil, I think is the proper term. I well... I want to get her something nice, as she plans to come visit me here in Seattle for a bit. But I have no clue what to get her. Or what would look well on red skin... or for a woman who has a tail... and horns... and bright yellow eyes. Could you help me find something for her?"

Jo just blinks. "Uh..." She swallows, trying to gather her thoughts.

"I... I can help you shop for a girl, but I don't really know how to weigh her being a she-devil into things."

Probably best not to tell Rita about this, right?

"Well, it's just that because in her natural form, her skin is red... and I want to get her something to compliment that. Like jewelry of some sort." He shadowports suddenly, and then shadoports back to Jo with two pictures. One of a voluptuous brunette, the other of the same woman, but in a more devil like form. Golden eyes, horns, red skin, same facial features and voluptuous form.

"This is what Diana looks like, in both her forms. The one of her true form is a personal picture. She does not want it to get out this is how she truly looks, as it could "tank" her career as a psychologist."

Jo scratches her head. "I'll let you know if I think of anything..."

Actually, maybe she really should tell the others about this... Dolemeck's so impressionable. What if he's being used?

...fuck, what if he's a mole?

Keep cool, girl. You could be reading too much into this, but if you're not..

"I'll let you know when I'm good to go shopping, okay?"

"That you, Miss Jo." he smiled a little, turning to look back at the pictures of Diana. "I really appreciate this, you have no idea."

He shadowported to put the pictures away, then come back. Dolemeck tilted his head as he looked at Jo.

"Are you alright? You seem a little... "off", now."
