Invasion of Seattle
Ophelia had planned this thoroughly ever since her surviving children had told her of what had befallen the others in the city. She could see that with this group of supernatural hunters, as well as the arrival of the vampire lord, Theodoric, that Seattle was about to become an important fixture in underworld politics. Whoever held it would be in a position of tremendous power. Though perhaps more importantly, the men her servants had described could potentially create a brood of daughters the likes of which neither vampire or human could stand against. Yes..this was far too tempting an opportunity to pass up.

It started early into the night, and happened almost as soon as it had begun. Ophelia had a small of followers infiltrate Seattle bit by bit until they were indistinguishable from the mortal population. At the exact moment, several known vampire lairs were suddenly attacked by disguised tryks. The smaller populations were slaughtered instantly in the initial surprise while the larger ones were decimated and trying to hold back the attackers in the boughs of their lairs with superior firepower.

In the news it looked almost as if some kind of gang warfare was going on. A nightclub, an office building, and a motel. Police had the areas cordoned off, though all attempts for them to enter the buildings had resulted in bloody deaths.

"We know something is going on. Our friends are missing and we're not clueless," Rita said bluntly.

"We've fought a lot of different things." She knows that the Patriarch probably knows a little bit about everything they've done.

"This speaks of something.... recent. That we probably missed or didn't finish off properly."

Jo is still apparently belligerent, but keeping it in check. She looks around, then addresses Rita as if no-one else is in the room. Loudly, even.

"So, do you have anything in your backpack that you think could burn this place to the ground?"

Marie picked up on the fact that this guy knew she was an assassin. That wasn't something she planned on, but now her mind was racing to figure out a plan of attack. She wondered if there was any way to get her hands on one of his personal belongings, or maybe a nail or some hair. There were a lot of things she could use those for, even if he was a vampire.

She gave Jo a look. That wasn't about to help their situation at all. There were human on the first floor, and Marie doubted they were well equipped to kill every vampire around them right now.

Not only that, but she was sure walking in on the tail end of the Patriarch's conversation wasn't a coincidence. He wanted them to hear him make those threats to the Deputy-Mayor, so they could know what he was capable of if they tried something against him.

"This is not the time to make more enemies," Marie stated clearly. That was meant for everyone in the room to hear. "What is your 'immediate problem' and how does it affect us? Aside from the possibility that our friends missing is tied to it."

For his part the Patriarch seemed to ignore Jo completely, addressing Rita and Marie.

"You are correct, on both counts. The attacks you've heard in the news, and the disappearance of your male colleagues, is connected to an attempted invasion of this city's supernatural underworld by tryks. Their queen is the leader of the same ones you fought and killed some months ago. Her name is Ophelia, and she has a reputation of conducting breeding experiments with unique males. I suspect that is why she took your friends rather than killing them outright."

"Which means that they're a threat to us and you," Rita concludes recalling what they knew of tryks. They have a good idea of the location now too.

"I'm guessing for her this is all about revenge. We killed what she would view as hers. And the guys are pretty unique so for someone like her it makes sense."

And she wants to kill that monster for taking their friends like that.

"Uh-uh. No one's using our guys for stock." Jo glares. "So we go in and kick their collective asses."

"Yes. I want these creatures eliminated, but I cannot find them. You can find them but you do not have the numbers to eradicate them permanently. I suggest a temporary alliance until you free your colleagues and we destroy these monsters," he offered. "I will give you a guaranteed week of non-violence between are sides afterwards."

Rita nodded.

"Sounds like a good deal. We need the extra numbers and a week off from fighting vampires afterwards would be useful." She glances towards the others trying to not be the total boss in this situation even if she knows they have no other choice, really.

"What do you say, ladies?"

Jo looks... thoughtful.

"I need more than the week off." She addresses the patriarch. "I want five thousand dollars for throwing myself into this alongside yours." She folds her hands at the small of her back, her expression cold and collected.

The Patriarch turned to Jo as if noticing her for the first time.

"I beg your pardon?"

Marie was silent. She didn't like making such a one-sided deal. And when you really looked at it, they were certainly making a one-sided deal.

"What do you consider as the 'sides'?" Marie asked. Humans and vampires? Or the Nightstalkers and the vampires? Neither was clearly defined, and both had loopholes in such a loose agreement.

Jo kept her stance rigid and didn't look away. "I agree that we don't have numbers on our side, but going into this with vampires next to us doesn't exactly make me just overflow with confidence either. Consider the figure hazard pay."

"No vampire under my influence will act against your team," the vampire lord clarified. He narrowed his eyes briefly before replying. "Done."

"But that begs to question, who will they act upon? This team does not make up the entire population in 'your' territory. With this arrangement, defending them would cause us to break the deal. It would be as if there never was a deal in the first place."

Marie was not happy with the monetary arrangement that was just made. It was not what Marie would have done. It was far too greedy and self-centered, and it reminded her very much of her former associates in the Assassin's Guild.

Something very much like a snarl gets kept down in Jo's throat, as she chooses her words carefully.

She gives up in about five seconds.

"Okay, here's the deal. We go in alongside your forces. We don't kill each other. We all make best efforts to protect each other like we would if it was just us. Afterwards, once we've rained down great vengeance and furious anger on this bitch and taken back our people, your truce offer goes into effect. If we think you're trying to be a weasel and just go by the words of the deal, instead of the spirit, we'll give you a warning. You abide by the warning, or I'll do something very unladylike." She lets out a sharp breath, and runs her hands through her hair.

"I don't know how else to put it. I'm not a hero, whatever anyone else on my team might be. I believe the best way to solve a problem is to hit it with as much force in as focused a spot as possible. Subtlety is for concertos and sonatas.

Now, can we just go turn these freaks into smears on the walls and floors?"

Her skin has paled as she's gotten more and more frustrated, just a touch, and the colors in her eyes are fading. She's not transforming, but it can be seen in the distance.

"Very well, Miss Jericho. No vampire under my authority will attack either your team nor feed on anyone in the Seattle area for one week," the Patriarch clarified.

The vampiric servants tensed at Jo's words and appearance, though the Patriarch himself calmly stood with his hands clasped behind his back, seemingly nonplussed.

"I can respect that methodology when pragmatism demands. You have an agreement."
