The Trick is to Keep Breathing
As usual after dealing with something related to Temujin, Anya hid out in the lab. This was the lab at the condo because she didn't have access to the lab at the Avengers' mansion. Though with Jarvis' help, she did manage to get her suit out. It wasn't a problem getting it to the condo. There may have been a very short fast flight to the roof of the building.

Dad said she couldn't use the suit (the short flight wasn't using it per se, it was transporting it), but he didn't say anything about working on it, or building herself a new suit. So she locked herself away in the lab and started working on her old suit and started building a new one. She needed to be prepared for the next time Temujin showed his face.

She slept an hour here and there. An hour of sleep allowed her to rest, but it wasn't enough time for the nightmares to start. As usual she lost track of time and days. Mom delivered food on a regular basis. If she hadn't, Anya would have forgotten to eat.

Anya stared blankly at the new set of boots. There was something she wanted to do, but she couldn't think at the moment.

He nods and begins to descend, homing in on the interstate in question so she can guide him from roughly the right area, but still high enough they shouldn't draw too much attention.
"Have you been here before, or just heard good things?"

"I've been there before. It's been awhile though. Dad and I discovered the place during one of his business trips he took me on."

She pointed in the direction they needed to go.

He descends down to rooftop level so she can point it out, and tries to find a somewhat quiet locale he can set down in without raising too much fuss within a couple blocks. "It obviously left an impression."

"I remember all the places that make excellent burgers. It's my goal to seek out all the best burgers in the United States and in the world."

Once they landed, she straightened her clothes out and fell in next to him. She would have hooked an arm with his, but the tabloids would blow it all out of proportion and then they'd have to explain to Eliza and Steve. It wasn't worth the hassle.

He seems to agree with her assessment, and doesn't even offer his arm, keeping a friendly distance between them. "That's a fine goal. Mind if I join you in that now and then?"

"Not at all. I always welcome company and love sharing my love of burgers."

"Did you enjoy the holidays?"

"I did, though I think I unintentionally created a bit of a stir in some nations in the process."

"Oh? What did you do?" she asked, now curious.

"I grew somewhat inspired by some of my studies before the holiday in the conflict between various beliefs and the Santa Claus mythos, as well as its place in childhood. I also learned that NORAD apparently now monitors his flight path. I spent the twenty four hours of the 25th around the night traveling NORAD's charted path while emitting red and green energy streamers."

Anya had to laugh. "I'm surprised you didn't hear from S.H.I.E.L.D. Uncle Nick gets cranky around the holidays and Santa making his trip. Sammy says he has it in for the fat man for buzzing the Helicarrier every year."

"Yes, I had a few words with Col. Fury. He forgave me upon my promise to keep an eye out for Santa Claus."

Anya laughed. "Had you been anyone else he would have tossed you in the brig." It didn't take long to walk to few blocks to Kuma's Corner.

"I would imagine so. I think the Colonel has appreciate my efforts to keep him fairly well appraised of my comings and goings." he agrees, holding the door open for her.

"You're too nice to him," Anya said as she stepped inside. "We try not to let him know too much about what we're doing." Though she knew that Sammy probably reported back to him on a regular basis.

"They do," she agreed, "but there are certain times when S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't need to know what we're doing."

Anya found an empty table and slid into a chair.

He slides into the chair opposite, raising a brow. He supposes he can see that, given some of the Avengers' activities, but he hasn't encountered very many, or heard it expressed quite so openly.
"Fair enough. Any suggestions for the food here?"

"I'm a fan of the Plague Bringer," she said as she handed him a menu. "The Led Zepplin is also very good."

He considers the menu, but only skims it. Its far less a matter of trying to find combinations he knows he likes and more about trying something new.
"The Plague Bringer... and interesting title for a food item. I'll have to try it."

Anya grinned. "That's what makes this place great. I think I'm going to have the Led Zeppelin. Pulled pork on a burger. It doesn't get any better or artery clogging than that."

Blink. Ah yes, human anatomy. Cholesterol and other such chemical things. "I still think I need to try the Plague Bearer, after the BBQ pork fries if you'd like to split them with me?"

"Sure. I love those. This place is heaven when it comes to food that is so bad for you."

Anya folded her menu and laid it on the table.

"So, how are you and Eliza doing?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"To the best of my knowledge there is no food that is bad for me. Just new experiences. It certainly smells delicious, and I look forward to trying to discern their spice blends so I can try and reproduce some of their sauces and recipes. And I believe we're doing well. She spent the holiday with her extended family, I believe, but I'm definitely hoping to find something she'll enjoy for New Years. I've been trying to research possibilities, so suggestions are welcome."

"Lucky you," she said. "Us frail humans have to watch cholesterol and whatnot." She smiled. "Good. I talked to her about what happened between us. She was a little upset at first, but then seemed to be okay with it."

Anya thought about New Year's. "There's a ton to do on New Year's. There's the party in Times Square, but it's always very crowded. A great place is the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the fireworks they put on. There's ice skating in Rockefeller center. Watching fireworks from the top of the Statue of Liberty. To start."

"Hmm, any idea what she might like? I'm still learning... flawed comparisons and all. Though the top of the Statue has some promise. Provided a means for her to breathe, I'm also curious about finding a place in the lower atmosphere where we can see the fireworks displays of most of the Eastern seaboard. There's also a matter of finding dinner. Are you and Steve planning anything?"
