Prelude to a Massacre
((Warning: This is going to get messy and unpleasant. Some aspects may be triggery.))

They were on the roof this afternoon, just talking and relaxing a little after getting some more work done. It was too cold, sure, but the decor was lovely and the view was great.

Considering their early trouble, Giovanna had taken to keeping her knife in the inside pocket of her coat when they went outside anywhere that wouldn't have metal detectors. She knew she'd most likely just use her powers in another emergency, but a little paranoia never hurt anyone.

"The weather's improving. Perhaps it'll even be tolerable eventually," she told Andrew with a smile.

He heard the screams alright. He was trying desperately to shut them out, just a second or two longer. He's terrified for her, and just knows if he doesn't do something, they're going to make him listen, before the guy comes back and shoves him off the edge.

He grits his teeth and does what he has to. Ignoring the probably busted knee, he kicks with his foot, digs in as best he can, and lunges up.

"Actually, I was thinking Rapunzel." he grunts, reaching for a handful of her hair as he pushes up on the wall, one arm straight. He wasn't trained to Giovanna's level, but his parents wouldn't let him be a slouch either, and thankfully, neither would his workout partner. He pulls hard, slamming her face into the gurardrail with his weight before pulling himself up.

He hopes that's enough, between impact and vanity at hitting her precious face, as he drags himself towards Giovanna, not able to get to his feet, his leg done for the moment. He's not even sure if she can see him or not, he just pleads she keeps the guy's attention a moment longer.

He doesn't entirely pull back in time, but he clearly wasn't expecting her to have that much composure either, used to girls who are terrified to uselessness by now.

His eye remains where it is, but he has a horrible set of four scars from his brow, across one eye and down his cheek, trailing the same blood that coats her fingers.

"Damnit." he cusses, all tune lost. His fist comes back at her in a blur.
"We still have a date you and me, but first, I'm gonna hurt you. I'm gonna hurt you bad. Then maybe I'll rescue your boy... break his arms and legs, let him watch while I hurt you some more. Bet the wuss hasn't even touched you yet, huh, baby? You untouched goods? Don't worry, I'll show you a real man before you go out."
He taunts, kicking at her midsection hard, not daring to get his face in talon reach again.

She can't properly block that next punch; she only partly manages to turn away from the kicks -- but she forces every bit of energy she can up, eyes flickering wildly, to try to make the experience of touching her as difficult as possible.

She's shouting, so hoarsely now it isn't all loud, something that hasn't been in common usage in eight hundred years and wasn't very polite then.

He won't get Andrew. He won't. He won't.

"YOU BASTARD!" Penny screamed before splitting out the blood that had started to pour from her nose.

He doesn't care about Flux now, he has to get to the guy attacking Giovanna. He crawls, desperately, scrambling to one foot when he gets a little momentum going, getting a couple of hops before he tumbles, alerting the attacker while he's just feet away.

Blake spins, fists up, features twisting into a sneer.
"What're you gonna do, boy. Can't even walk."

Getting his good leg braced, Andrew lunges, feinting at Blake, then diving and crashing into Giovanna.

"C'mon, please be ok." he prays out lout loud.
"Hit me with everything you've got!" he yells, hoping she's aware enough to know its him holding onto her for dear life as he feels the energy she's putting off, hoping its quick enough.

Trembling in shock and pain and fear, beyond punch-drunk and into its equivalent of alcohol poisoning she may be, but between love and Bennet professional obsession, she'd still know his voice anywhere. She'd started straining to tap her reserves and build up a charge already, now she expends all she possibly can.

Not so fast there. Penny activated her powers and hoped she would drain her.

Penny's luck with odds runs out there. As Gio's power fluctuates wildly out of control, it all flows into Andrew. All of it.
He's bathed for a moment in greenish blue radiance, and then it goes dark as he's changed.

Ok, so the first moment of it isn't so spectacular, aside from the change itself. His healing factor kicks in at a speed it never has before, and with an audible *CRACK!* his knee snaps into place and the bone sets itself. He swears in at least three languages by the time he rights himself.

By the time he does though, he's a monster, even by his standards, towering over Breakneck.

"You hurt me, I hate you. You hurt my girl..."
Even moving makes his neck and shoulders crack.
"Vous ĂȘtes un mort."

Blake is stunned at first, who wouldn't be? This was under their control.
On the up side: he's quick to react, launching into a blur of motion. He swings again and again, lashing out punch after punch at Andrew's face and stomach, hitting all the usual vulnerable spots.

On the down side: What happens when you hit a cement wall fifty times in four seconds?

Andrew doesn't move. Blake's knuckles look like raw hamburger.

In contrast: what happens when a cement wall hits you once?

Most of Andrews attempts to fight back are dodged neatly. But in the desperate blur and distractions of the pain dished out when Blake hits him, he does connect once.

He only needs to connect once. Breakneck goes tumbling cowboy hat over heels to tumble to a groaning stop next to Penny, mumbling something through a dislocated jaw.

That hurt. Burned, as if for a moment all of her nerves were on fire.
She's barely conscious at this point, but through the haze, she can hear Andrew.
...Is it reasonable to have odd, soft little giggles of satisfaction when you're nearly mad with pain? She hopes so.

Realizing that things have gone from bad to worse with both boots on, it was time to get the hell out of here.

"Breakneck!" she yelled and hoped he would remember to grab her as he made a run for it.

He does. He's up in a moment and moving, grabbing her up as he goes.
"We'we geddin' da f'ck oudda hewe." he mutters, trying to figure out how to get his jaw set right.
"F'ck da misson." He's pretty sure she'll echo his sentiments. They have bigger targets than these two to hit anyway.
