Draco was supposed to be having lunch with Pansy and listening to her talk about her new boyfriend, but for the most part he was playing with his phone. It had been a week since he'd heard anything from Merlin and, given that the last time they'd seen each other Draco had had to leave for a while to give Merlin a break, he was starting to get worried. Plus, Merlin hadn't been at school and he hadn't answered Draco's texts asking how he was feeling and it just... It was worrying.

He put his phone down because, no, there still weren't any new texts from Merlin, and looked up at Pansy. "I can't believe Father actually approved of a man for you. It's got to be some sort of miracle."

	"I was telling you how I was raped by a ghost and pregnant with it's baby." Pansy told Draco with a small smile. "Just to see if you were paying attention. Which you weren't." She sighed softly. For once, Draco wasn't sure he wanted to talk about his problems. Maybe Merlin was just... something. Just something that didn't involve him being upset at Draco. Just actually too sick to respond to Draco's texts. "Merlin moved into his new flat this weekend," he said.

He played with his fork. "I went to help him move in and he got really annoyed with me so I left to give him some quiet time and things seemed like they were okay when I came back. We ate a pizza and snogged a bit and then I left. But now he's not answering my texts and he hasn't been at school all week and I don't know what to do about it." Draco gave in and pulled his phone out again. "Things are supposed to be easy now that we're finally together."

Pansy hummed thoughtfully at all that Draco said. "Well. I think it's a bit rough, don't you? To be thrust into the world of being a gay teen with an non-supportive father who kicked him out. And to have you coddling him."

She shrugged. "I'm sure that he's having a really hard time as it is, Draco. Without you swarming him all the time. Maybe what he needs is some time alone."

"Couldn't he have time alone and answer my texts?" Draco asked, looking down at his phone and sighing. "I know he's having a hard time. That's why I was trying to be there for him. I gave him space when he said he needed space. Just... he hasn't been to school. Merlin's like Lavinia. He doesn't miss school."

Draco put his phone down on the table and pushed it towards Pansy. "You should take that away from me. I don't want to be the crazy boyfriend who shows up at his front door, but he's all alone in a huge flat and he's never been on his own before and I miss him." He sighed. "What is wrong with me? This isn't how I act with boys I date."

	"There's nothing wrong with you, Draco. You just care a great bit more about Merlin than any other boy you've ever dated." Pansy sighed softly and looked Draco over. "Am I?" Draco looked down at the outfit he had on. "Fuck, I don't even remember wearing it." He looked up at Pansy, hesitating for a moment before he got to his feet too, grabbing his phone off the table. "All right. If we both go, I might look less crazy."

He smoothed a hand over his shirt. "I supposed it doesn't matter than I wore this yesterday. Merlin won't know that. He didn't see me."

	"I think you need to learn to be patient and calm down." Pansy informed Draco, taking his hand into her own. "I've never even been in a relationship and I feel like I could be more patient." 	"He lost his father," Draco corrected. "His mother and sister still love him. All of us still love him. My father's put him up in that flat and is letting him pay rent and everything. I really love him." He sighed, squeezing Pansy's hand. "I guess I'd be moody too if I got kicked out over something. I'd just want Merlin to hold me until I felt better though." "I can imagine what it feels like to have your father think you're useless pretty easily," Draco said, sighing. "I guess it would have to be close to the same thing." He got into the cab with Pansy.

"I know he's going through a lot now. I was spending time with him because I was trying to be supportive. I kept telling him it didn't matter if he didn't want to tell anyone else. It hasn't even made it onto the gossip blogs. But... I'll try harder. If we get there and he wants more time away from me, I can do that."

"If he gives you much more trouble, I say you move on." Pansy told him. "You and I can pretend to be tourists like we did when we were younger, put on our best American voices and hit on all the hot museum guides."

She looked up at the building as they stopped in front of where Merlin lived. "This is one of the best buildings in London. I hate your father." She laughed.

Draco laughed at that. "It's Merlin, Pansy. He's been my best male friend practically since I was born. I'm not sure hitting on hot museum guides is going to work, but it does sound like fun."

He paid the driver and then looked up at the building, laughing. "Yeah, my dad doesn't do anything partway. He bought Merlin a closet full of designer suits, but all he put in the kitchen was cereal, almond milk, and scotch." Draco got out of the car and offered Pansy his hand. "Come on."

Merlin was alone in the flat for the first time in a week, but only because Lucius had insisted that he go home. He rubbed at his chest where there was a bite mark, feeling guilty about everything now.

Because, despite what he'd done, he did love Draco. He'd just... resented him. Draco was the reason he had to do any of this in the first place. He sighed when he heard a knock at the door, walking over to open it. He stared at Draco and Pansy. "Hello."

Draco was so nervous about this his stomach was turning over on itself. He did his best attempt at a smile when Merlin opened the door. "Hi," he said. "We thought we'd come check in on you. Are you feeling better?"

He wasn't going to mention Merlin not responding to any of his texts. He wasn't going to be crazy. "I've got your homework from this week, just not... with me. This was kind of a spur of the moment thing."

	"Yeah. I'm feeling a bit better." Merlin nodded as he looked at Draco, feeling so guilty he felt like he was going to puke. He glanced at Pansy for a moment and frowned at Draco. "Pansy." Draco glanced at her, trying to psychically communicate how much he didn't want to talk about his insecurities right now. Hadn't she just been telling him he should be nicer to Merlin? "I'm sorry," he told Merlin. "We were out and I was being... I was worrying about you."

He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Merlin's lips. "I'm glad you're feeling better. If you're still not up for company we can go. I can bring your homework by tomorrow night or something."

	"I want you here." Merlin told him, then glanced at Pansy. "I just don't like her." He wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him against his chest, holding him there. Draco relaxed, smiling a little when Merlin said he loved him. "I love you too," he said, wrapping his arms around the other boy and holding him close. He could tell Merlin felt bad about not returning his texts, which was nice.

He kissed his neck, pulling back a bit. "I know you and Pansy don't get on, but now your friend Theodore is her boyfriend you're probably going to see her around even more. She got permission from my father and everything."

"Poor Theodore." Merlin replied as he slid his hands down to Draco's bottom and pressed him close. He couldn't sleep with him, not with the marks on his body, but he could make him feel special again.

"That'll teach him to beat me in debate. I'll shove him with an even more awful girl." Merlin smiled and kissed Draco softly. "I'm sorry I didn't answer your texts. I was... not myself."

Draco laughed, kissing Merlin back. "Pansy isn't awful at all. I'm sure Theodore will be very happy with her," he said. "As long as he doesn't mess it all up and prove that he's not good enough for her."

He pulled back a little when Merlin apologised over the texts. "It's all right," Draco said, shaking his head. "You needed time to yourself. I know I can be... I know how I can get sometimes. I should be more understanding of what you're going through right now."
