Neville had been spending a lot of time trying to figure out if going on a date with Pansy Parkinson was a good idea or not. Probably not, but he wanted to. He liked her. At least his crush wasn't as bad as Regulus's. There was just something about girls with backgrounds drenched in evil, apparently. Maybe they could blame it on being Gryffindors.

He glanced at Regulus as they walked along the outside of the Forbidden Forest, then cleared his throat. "I... saw Pansy Parkinson the other day," he said. "She came down to the pumpkin patch for a bit. We talked." Neville rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know if you're influencing me to do stupid things or what, but I kind of asked her out."

	"Do something? What would it do?" Regulus asked as he glanced at Neville. "Besides betroth me to a girl that I definitely don't deserve? She's too beautiful and way too smart to be stuck with me." Neville took a drag from the joint as he thought over what Regulus had said. "You really like her, don't you? I thought maybe you were trying to be a brave Gryffindor and take one for the team or something. That's going to be complicated."

He held the spliff out to Regulus. "Not that dating Pansy wouldn't be. I'm much less weird than you. I don't know what you're talking about."

He thought about June Riddle for a moment. She was pretty. Neville liked brunettes in particular. Still. "Not as pretty as Pansy. I guess it's just weird because she's Riddle's daughter and he's a fucking maniac. It's like how Pansy is dating Thoreau Lestrange. I have trouble imagining that the child of a sadistic monster isn't affected by their parent. Or parents."

"Do you want me to pay you for getting gillyweed?" Regulus asked, arching a brow. "I just assumed that as your friend I didn't have to." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sack. "There's ten galleons in that."

"Do you think that there's something wrong with my girlfriend, mate?" Regulus asked as he turned to his friend and frowned. "Because her dad is Riddle?"

"No, I don't want you to pay me," Neville said, shaking his head. "You are my friend. I'm just saying. You're rich. You could pay me if I required payment."

He hesitated for a moment. The right answer was no, but he wasn't sure that was the truthful answer. "I've never even talked to her," he pointed out. "You should introduce me to her. Unless you're that ashamed of me."

"Mine isn't my girlfriend yet. She's still dating someone else," Neville pointed out. "Even then I don't know if she'll agree to be my girlfriend. We're just going on a date. But if it works out, of course I'll let you meet her."

He made a face thinking about the dance. "My gran's already making a fuss about it. She's got my dad's dress robes out and cleaned for me already."
