There was nothing about the healing process that was easy for Murphy. The first few days at his parents house had been good. Cramped in a bed with Seth and sometimes Vegas and Mika too. Enough support that he felt like maybe it was going to be all right. And then he and Seth went back to Seth's new apartment. Seth started drinking again and Murphy spent most of his afternoons alone, thinking about the other boys and thinking about Adam. Some afternoons he thought about calling the other boys but he hadn't worked up the courage to talk to any of them. He knew they were better off without him. Part of him had thought things were looking up but that was until the first time he and Seth had sex after he got home and things had rapidly deteriorated from there. Murphy had stopped calling Vegas and his parents, only talking to them when they called him instead and that was only sometimes. Sometimes he let his phone go straight to voicemail because it was just easier not having to hear their questions. Some nights he wouldn't even look at Seth when he got home. He could still smell the booze on him more often than not and on those nights Murphy just closed his eyes and he'd pretend he could hear the scratching of Parker's pen against his paper or the melancholy music of Elijah's violin. When he was really desperate he'd think of the shutter clicks of Shay taking pictures of them. He hadn't ever really had the chance to bond with him, not the way he had with Elijah and certainly not with Parker. One morning after he'd been home for a few weeks, Murphy woke and felt particularly alone and hopeless. Seth was at work and he was sure that his parents and Vegas would be the same. He'd thought long and hard about returning to work but he had freak outs regularly enough still that he knew it wasn't an option. So he got up and showered and got dressed and grabbed his messenger bag from the desk. With his inhaler, his cell phone and his iPod tucked away in various pockets, he headed down to the train station. A ticket to quantico cost sixteen dollars and he didn't buy a return ticket mostly because he didn't know what time he'd be ready to head back. For most of the ride he listened to his headphones, just trying to block out all of his thoughts with music. By the time he got there it was early afternoon and he had to take a cab from the train station to fbi headquarters. Honestly, he wasn't sure what he thought this little trip was going to do for him, but he knew that he wanted to see the agents that had been responsible for saving his life. He wanted to tell them thank you because he hadn't ever gotten the chance. It was one door he intended to close, the easiest of all of them he supposed. In the lobby they put him through the metal detectors and then he asked specifically for the BAU. The woman told him to wait and that she'd have someone come down to meet him. They weren't just going to let anyone run around in the offices unattended.

"Fine." Murphy relaxed a tiny bit now that he was alone with Liam and he wasn't thinking about the things that Wyatt had said. "I wanted to call Reagan but I don't want to bother him. I don't want to bother any of the other boys. I'm sure they are probably trying to get on with their life." But he was taking this a lot harder than he should have been and he knew that Reagan could tell that, they call could.

"He's at home right now. I can take you to see him if you like. It's not so far of a drive. I'm certain that he would like to see you. In my experience, people form very strong bonds once they've been through an ordeal together. It's perfectly natural to want to reconnect with Reagan and the others." Liam thought those bonds could be healthy, though he wouldn't be so sure if he'd heard Murphy defending Adam earlier.

"Getting on with your life doesn't mean forgetting about the past."

"I don't know. I don't want to bring up bad memories or make anyone feel bad. I think I probably shouldn't see him. Wyatt said there was a train coming within the hour so I was just going to go ahead and catch that to go home." It was going to be another long ride and he was sure by now Seth was home and realizing he wasn't there.

Once again, Liam didn't want to push Murphy into something he didn't want to do, so he nodded. But he made a mental note to have Reagan call the boy up to talk. There were things he knew he couldn't understand about being held prisoner, things only Reagan and the other boys could know.

"How is your family? Your boyfriend?"

Murphy shrugged his shoulders a little bit. "My brother is good." He nodded, because that was about the only thing that was good about the whole home life situation he had going on. His dad was stressed, his mom was more fragile than he was, and Seth... well Seth was drinking. But he doubted that Liam wanted to talk about all of that. "I'll tell him you said hello."

Liam noted the fact that Murphy had focused only on his brother. If he was the type of person who didn't like to pry, he would have been in the wrong profession. He had pretty good boundaries when it came to victims, but he could see the underlying distress and sadness to this kid and he thought maybe he needed to talk. It especially interested him because he'd seen Seth at the hospital and the boy had had the look of a hard drinker. There was just something that set them apart from everyone else, a haggard look that only came after a few years of abusing ones own body.

"Seth is his name?" he pretended to need that repeated to him. "He looked quite terrible at the hospital." Even though Liam had been focused on Reagan, he was good at noticing his surroundings. "I'm sure he was very broken up about your disappearance. Is he doing better now?"

"When I met Seth he was a big drinker. We were in high school and he was getting drunk a lot. Most nights. And he quit drinking because of me. He was sober for two years and then I got kidnapped. And he stayed sober for a year after but I guess the first Christmas that I was gone was too hard and Vegas said he started drinking again. He drinks all the time now. He comes home from work drunk. I don't know if I'm strong enough to help him quit this time, I can't even make myself get out of bed some mornings until it is really late in the day." He bit his bottom lip and shrugged his shoulders. He didn't know what to do about it. "We had a big fight the other day."

Liam listened without trying to put too much of his own experience into it. He knew every alcoholic was an individual, but there was a lot of overlap. He thought of Chancellor. "A fight about his drinking? I've had so many of those. I used to drink. I understand what you're going through from the other end and the man who helped me get sober gave so much of himself that--I guess there just wasn't enough left of our relationship when the dust settled. If I can give you advice? If you feel like you can't help him again, let him go. Maybe if he helps himself, your relationship will be there when he comes back to you."
