Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO; Melanie Roberts && Charles Vaisey.
WHEN; Saturday, September 27th.
WHERE; Courtyard.
SUMMARY; She didn't see this coming. For serious.
RATING; Let's say PG for now.
WARNINGS; Some serious rambling, dude.
STATUS; In progress.

Unlike her roommates, Melanie had always been a morning person. She would wake up every day at six in the morning to prepare for the day and be on time for breakfast. The main reason why she was so used to getting up so early was the time it took her to get ready; it wasn't rare of her to space out in the middle of putting on her socks or doing her tie, always stopping an activity halfway to start another.

Even during weekends, Melanie would continue the routine of waking up exactly at six, lying in bed for at least 10 minutes before heading off to the showers. The advantage of it all was that she could take as long as she wanted to in the shower, without any of the girls complaining about it, because they usually woke up by the time she was almost done getting dressed. Today was Saturday, though, and she could afford staying in bed for longer than ten minutes, but Melanie was too impatient to stay still for long periods of time and it was barely 6:30 when she walked out of the common room - still in pyjamas - and decided to go for a walk.

As she walked through the darkened halls of the castle, Melanie hoped she wouldn't come across Peeves. As much as the poltergeist amused her most of the times, she would hate herself if she caused him to wake the whole castle, so she was extra careful opening the door that led to the Entrance Hall and then the main door leading to the grounds. The weather was perfect, just the slightest bit chilly and cloudy, though the sun was still visible, and Melanie stopped a moment to breathe in the air before going on.

She finally settled on one of the stone benches closest to the water fountain, pulling her knees close to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. Melanie usually hated being by herself, but there were times when it was actually rather nice, because she would start daydreaming and her mind would drift away to far away places that didn't make any sense, but then again, nothing made much sense when it came to her.

It was her. She was the only one that would make him feel like this, for crying out loud he just wanted to be fine again. Charlie heard her say his name as he was finally able to breathe. It had to be done, there’d be no more of this nonsense. “Fine,” Charlie let out in a laboured breath and tried to smile, the only problem was it made his stomach hurt more, “I’m fine.”

There was a second where his heart skipped a beat and reminded him that he was indeed alive, oh he was alive. And she was so close. It was almost like people say that time slows down, only completely different—it was like they were the only people that mattered at that one moment, and that instead of them slowing down while the rest of the world moved on, it was them who moved faster. Each breath that Melanie took, the ever constant tingling in Charlie’s stomach, and then the blank look that she had on her face as Charlie leaned forward. He’d just give in, because he wanted nothing more in the moment than to kiss her.

His hand had found its way on her cheek, it, or the rest of him for that matter, was no longer shaking. Charlie felt well, because it would finally be done. No regrets. He could have sworn Melanie had opened her mouth once more to say something, but he didn’t give her the opportunity. With that he simply pressed his lips against hers, keeping his balance by letting one hand lean on the bench while the other had moved to Melanie’s neck. Charlie’s eyes closed as he continued kissing Melanie. There would be time to worry about the consequences later. Right now all that was pressing was the fact that he was actually kissing her.

It couldn’t have been more than a few seconds, but Charlie pulled away before she had the time to shove him. He was determined, yes, but one could only take so much rejection. Before he could open his eyes to see her reaction his felt hot and was bound to be blushing. Oh Merlin. Why.

“I-I-uh-Strebbor. Needs food. Bye.” Charlie gulped once before he jumped up awkwardly. Why why why why WHY. Glad that he hadn’t brought anything with him outside, Charlie rushed away from the bench, lucky to miss a stone column that he had almost ran straight into. He was too mortified to even think about what he’d done. It was done. His fate was sealed. She’d hate him more than ever.
