Charlie stood in Malfoy Manor, placing the silver-paper wrapped gift he'd gotten for Draco. It wasn't anything spectacular. Just a silver pocketwatch with dragons engraved into it. It would do him well at his job at the ministry, which is what this party was for to begin with. He glanced at Rider. "When is Draco going to be here?"

"Soon." Pansy replied as she held Scorpius in one arm and Cepheus on the other. She smiled at the small pile or presents that were there. "I got him a strawberry-vanilla cake. I hope that's okay with him. It's what I'm craving." Which she didn't need to crave anything. She was as big as a house, pregnant with a Macnair.

Pyxis was wearing a sling on her arm and had a huge black eye from getting beat up at work. A man at a pub had hit her really good and thrown her across the room, breaking her arm in four different places. Now it was just sore. But, there were other things on her mind. She walked up to Rider. "I need to talk to you."

"I don't know," Draco admitted. He leaned against the wall. This would be less awkward if they weren't both holding a baby. "Not... I mean, I really do care about you, Charlie. And I like being with you. I just... have this thing that makes me run whenever someone says they care about me. As far and as fast as I can."

Walden blinked at Pyxis for a moment, and then what she was saying really sunk in. "You... You're pregnant." He stared at her for a moment, then moved closer. "You... And... it's mine." It had to be his. Who else would it belong to? He looked down at her stomach. "What do you want to do?"

"I assume it's your father issues." Charlie smiled at Draco for a moment and shook his head. "One day, maybe, you'll stop running from me. Just don't run too far. I don't want to die alone and I won't wait forever."

"It's yours. You're the only one I've been with." Pyxis admitted and looked up at him. "I don't know what I want to do. I found out not long ago. After I got beat up at work. I wanted to know what you wanted. I don't... want to ruin your life."

"I know," Draco said. "I wouldn't ask you to wait forever. Just... maybe a little bit longer." He stepped close to Charlie again, leaning up and kissing him softly, fingers brushing through the hair at the nape of his neck. "How's your new job at the reserve? Are you glad to be back?"

"Ruin my life?" Walden frowned a little. "Pyxis, this wouldn't ruin my life. I'd like being a father. And... I hope you would at least give me a chance at being with you, after I got you in the position. But I know your career is important to you as well and I wouldn't want to ruin that."

Charlie looked back at Draco for a moment, feeling kind of hurt. He held Scorpius a little tighter to his chest as the baby fell asleep. "The closest I get to dragons is watching them through a window of my office."

"I don't want you to have to give up anything to be a father." Pyxis replied quietly. "And.. And I don't want you to resent me for ruining your dreams or anything." She sighed. "Why would you want to be with me? I don't deserve you."

"Better or worse than teaching hopeless cases like me at Hogwarts?" Draco asked. He could tell he'd said the wrong thing from the look Charlie gave him and the way his attention turned to Scorpius. "Probably less blonds around."

"Don't be ridiculous, Pyxis," Walden said, giving her a confused look. "Loving someone isn't about deserving anything. It's just about... love. And I want you because I think you're wonderful. I always have, and being a father wouldn't mean giving up anything for me. If anything, being a family man helps in politics."

"I miss teaching hopeless cases." Charlie admitted and then looked around. He wouldn't show Draco how upset he was. "You should enjoy your party. There are other people here."

Pyxis looked up at Walden. "I've always loved you, Walden." She told him quietly and then looked at her feet. She closed her eyes. "I don't know how relationships work and I'm terrified of one."

Draco thought about saying he wasn't interested in talking to the other people there, but he'd also probably just put the final nail in the coffin of his and Charlie's relationship. "Okay," he said. "I'll... I don't want to wake Scorpius up anyway." He moved away from Charlie, running a hand through his hair and finding Pansy quickly. "I'm an idiot," he said. "Should you be standing? Do you want to sit? I can bring you cake."

"You're not the first person to feel that way and I'm sure you won't be the last," Walden told her, taking Pyxis's hands in his. "But we'll never know if our relationship was meant to work or not unless we embrace the idea of being together and just... try. Doesn't trying sound good to you?" He gave her a hopeful look. "I love you, Pyxis. I want this with you. Please."

"I'm perfectly fine." Pansy informed Draco and then frowned. "I can stand. Ride is giving Bill dirty looks across the room. Why are you an idiot? What did you do?"

Was this really going to work? Pyxis looked up at Walden for a moment, then pressed against him, hiding her face against his chest. "Okay." She told him quietly. "We can try."

"I was left to talk to Charlie on my own without drinking for more than five minutes. What do you think I did? I fucked things up. Again." Draco glanced back at Charlie and Scorpius. "Things were going well, and then we talked about feelings and he said he wouldn't wait forever and I said... I don't know. I asked him for a little bit longer and he looked at me like a kicked puppy because I'm an idiot."

Walden smiled, wrapping his arms around Pyxis and kissing the top of her head. "Good," he whispered, cuddling her close. "I'm really glad, Pyxis. I... This is something I've wanted for a while."

"Why do you need more time?" Pansy asked as she looked back at Draco. "I realise that you and I are both young and wild and free. But, that man loves you. And he loves your children. He helped protect you after what happened. He lied to Aurors." She shook her head. "Why isn't that enough for you?"

"I've missed you." Pyxis replied quietly, closing her eyes and pressing close to him. "I never stopped loving you, Walden. I just... needed to take time to myself and remember that I'm not a weak girl." She looked up at him. "I'm not quitting my job either."

"It's not about someone... being enough for me, Pansy. I know he's... That Charlie is amazing and I should be with him. But I'm never going to deserve everything he's done for me." Charlie scanned the party for Charlie. "I cheated on him after he told me he loved me because I was scared of being hurt. Charlie deserves much, much better."

"I don't want you to," Walden said, leaning down and brushing their lips together. "I would never ask you to quit your job when I know I don't want to quit mine. I... I think this is good, Pyxis. This will be good. And I'm sure Rider will help with the baby. He's good with kids."

"Do you really want Rider to help with the baby?" Pyxis couldn't help but laugh at that. "It's first words will be fuck and cunt."

"Aren't you supposed to tell me there are plenty of fish in the see or something?" Draco asked, looking at Pansy and sighing. "Not that this is my one chance at love and happiness?" She was probably right though. He'd be an idiot if he kept pushing away someone who'd done so much for him. "I should go find Charlie again."

Walden shrugged. "He doesn't have a job," he pointed out. "He can be our baby's nanny while we're both at work. Once our maternity and paternity leave is over, I mean."

"Okay. Just put the babies down in the pen we have over there." Pansy told Draco and then kissed his forehead. "That way the two of you can be alone." She walked away from him and joined Rider. "Stop staring at him like that or I'll snog him just to make you angry."

Pyxis looked down at her now flat stomach. "I'm going to be as big as a house. You'll have to carry me everywhere. I'll be fat like Pansy."

Draco sighed and did as he was told, taking Cepheus to the pen and putting him down. He kissed his son on the forehead, then went in search of Charlie and Scorpius. "Charlie? Can we talk? Again, I mean."

Rider grumbled, wrapping his arms around Pansy and kissing her again. "I can't help it. I get the distinct impression from him that he'd love to shag you senseless. The way I do. Only he wouldn't be as good as I am at it."

Walden laughed. "She's not fat. She's pregnant. And you'll be pregnant with my child, so I think I'll like it. I'll probably feel proud of myself every time I look at you."

Charlie looked back at Draco and nodded. "Yeah. Sure." He told him, even if he was feeling off put by their earlier conversation. He ran his eyes over the other boy and then put Scorpius down in the pen as well. "Do you want to talk alone?"

Pansy smiled up at Rider and then kissed him softly. "I love you, Rider. I wouldn't shag anyone else. Okay?" She ran her fingers over his mohawk.

Pyxis snorted at him. "Proud of yourself for fucking me senseless and filling me with a baby?" She arched a brow. "I hope you can deal with how horny I'll be. I'm going to make you go down on me. All day."

"Yes," Draco said. He reached out and took Charlie's hand, leading him away from the party, to the library. He closed the door behind them and then turned to face Charlie. "I think we should go out. On a date."

"I know you woudn't," Rider told her. "You should at least let me be jealous. Bill flirts with you." He kissed her again. "I suppose he flirts with Narcissa too. Maybe I shouldn't take it so seriously." He looked down at her giant stomach, touching it gently. "How much longer do we have to wait?"

Walden laughed, kissing Pyxis again. "I'll be okay with that," he promised. He kissed her again, humming softly against her lips. "I love you. I'm going to make it my mission to try and keep you happy from now on."
