Names
They story goes that names -- their meanings, their personal significance in a family -- can end up having influence on a person. What do you think?

Couldn't say, myself. If I'd been a boy, Mom wanted to name me after my grandfather, Vernon Van Dyne. Dad just wanted 'Something French.' So they went with Vernique. French and before that Greek for Bringer of Victory. Same etymology as the name Bernice, so some would say I lucked out in that I didn't end up named Bernie.

I certainly like it.

I don't know. I don't know where Anya came from outside of being the Russian form of Anna. The rest of my name is pretty self explanatory. Antonovna is the Russian feminine of Anthony. Traditionally Russians use the father's name for the second name.

And Anna, if I remember, means 'Gracious'. Least there's nothing embarrassing here.
