Sebastian
It probably would have been a fairly good idea to give Sebastian Goldstein some sort of warning before apparating to the house he shared with Mackenzie, but Evan was not in the mood for biting remarks from the Gryffindor. There was something in the back of his mind that told him that if he had so much as mentioned a face to face meeting, there was a good possibility that Sebastian would decline, and tell him that there was no good reason for them to sit down and have a little chat. Then again, Evan had no idea what the guy was like, since he didn’t ever bother taking the time to get to know him. He didn’t care enough. But, to save time and energy just incase that was indeed the reaction he would get, the blonde Slytherin decided to make a surprise house call. Whether or not Mackenzie was home didn’t matter. He was actually hoping she wouldn’t be for this, since he did want to talk to her husband alone for a few minutes. He wasn’t planning on staying long, but it all depended on how long this was going to take.

Slipping his wand into the inner pocket of his suit, since he had just arrived from work, he raised a hand to knock on the door. It was loud enough for someone to hear on the inside, but he was hardly banging it down. Dropping his hand back down, he slid his hands into his pocket and took the chance to look around. He was inwardly scowling about how Mack deserved so much better than this. Even if it was a very nice house, he wouldn’t let himself admit it, just because of who it belonged to. To anyone who didn’t know Evan, he probably looked completely unaffected by this not so little rumor that was flying about, but anyone who had graduated in the year of ’77 in the house of Slytherin could see the signs that he most definitely was. The way he kept shifting his jaw, the way his shoulders were more tense than usual; little things like that.

His grey eye had been focused on a nearby dying plant, but his full attention turned back to the door once he saw movement out of his blue one. He wordlessly stared at Sebastian Goldstein for a good moment or two before cocking his head just slightly to the side. “Hello Sebastian.” There was a small pause before he spoke again. “I believe you and I need to have a talk.” His words were spoken calmly, explaining his reasons for being there. He was just hoping to have a…civilized conversation with the man.

Sebastian was beginning to...get over the magical world. When he first got to Hogwarts and was called a mudblood, he was bothered by it and cried, but was soon told to get over it by two of his rather rough and pureblooded roommates. His years at Hogwarts he dealt with the mudslinging, but had learned to keep a quick tongue with biting remarks that sent the idiots stumbling away. Not that their words didn't cut, it sliced at him every time, but at least he was able to defend himself.

And then in his seventh year he fell in love with the girl who was every Slytherin's favorite person in the whole wide world. You could definitely say he'd been in love with Mackenzie since their first prefect round together in fifth year, but he didn't get to kiss her until January of their seventh, and even then they had to hide it from her friends and family.

And then her family disowned her for openly dating a muggleborn, and two weeks before their wedding he was attacked and left for dead.

Now, now Sebastian had never been good at getting rid of grudges. He could stay annoyed at you for years until you apologized, or showed some sign of remorse, but as he closed the door to their bedroom where Mackenzie had finally gotten to sleep, he was beginning to realize that he was never going to be able to forgive any of the nasty people at Hogwarts who called him a mudblood. Or the ones in the street, recently, or any of those lowlifes who thought them to be superior than all--

"Ah--huh," Sebastian let out as he looked through the peephole and saw Evan Rosier's scowling face. He turned back to just walk away and let the man freeze out there, but something tugged at his chest. Maybe he was looking for an confrontation to get all of this frustration out, and it couldn't hurt, right?

Well. He supposed it could, but. Sebastian opened the door and listened to Evan speak and announce his reason for being on their doorstep. Mmm, no.

"I...don't think so," he said with a shake of his head, stepping out onto the top step and closing the door so that they were both outside. There was no reason to bring this inside.

“Is that right?” Evan replied with a quirked brow. He wasn’t expecting to be let into the house, nor was he expecting the man to just be alright with the fact that he was there. Fucking Gryffindors and their bloody pride. They were always so God damn stubborn. “There’s this supposed rumor going about that I’m the father of Mackenzie’s child, and you don’t think we have anything to say to one another? I regret to inform you that you’re horribly mistaken.” There was another pause. “I don’t plan on staying long, since what I have to say isn’t much at all, but whether or not you’re willing to put our many differences to the side to sort this through is your decision. Let’s act like adults, shall we?” Once again, he never raised his voice, and let his tone remain pleasant. Even if he hated almost everything this man stood for, there was no need to stoop down to his level and act like a child, saying he didn’t want to talk to him.

Sebastian's eyes batted for a moment, listening to Evan's spiel. Ahuh, yes, he was horribly mistaken, of course. Sebastian scratched above his eye for a second to make it look like he was somewhat paying attention, but he already knew where this was going.

"Unless you started the rumors, then there's nothing to discuss," he said with a shrug, crossing his arms. This was why he hated gossip, it caused so much more trouble than necessary. Sebastian wasn't phased at the whispers of their baby not being his, he trusted Mackenzie with his life. There was no way she would be unfaithful, and it was just--the last thing anyone would ever get him to believe.

"Did you start the rumors, Evan?" Maybe he was trying to antagonize him, but he was also trying to prove his point. "The rumors neither Mackenzie or I believe, and therefore they mean nothing to us?" Sebastian shrugged and looked over the man's shoulders at the pond that would soon freeze over. "Because if you did, then we'd have something to say to each other."

The question got silence at first as his response, those intense eyes staring at the man for a while before he rolled his shoulders back casually, letting out a light sigh. “It’s good that you don’t believe it. And it makes absolutely perfect sense that Mackenzie doesn’t believe it, since the two of us would have had to have done something in order for that kid to be mine. But you already know that we haven’t, from what I’ve been told. Despite the fact that your marriage doesn’t make a bit of sense to me, I wouldn’t do anything to ruin it; because it makes her happy. You make her happy for…some reason.” Reaching into his inside pocket he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. “And to answer your question; No.”

He lit the drug, took a drag, and placed the pack back into the inside of his suit jacket, removing the white stick with his fingers. He let the chemicals out of his chest out of the corner of his mouth as a single stream of grey smoke before he continued on. “I didn’t start the rumor. Do you really think I did, or…did you just want someone to blame this on?” A brow arched, smirking a little. “Come now, Goldstein. If I were going to start any sort of rumor at all, it wouldn’t be about Mackenzie, and it sure as fuck wouldn’t involve me. It may seem strange to you, but I do happen to actually like your wife. She’s a very good friend of mine, actually. And as I’ve previously mentioned, I wouldn’t do anything to ruin her happiness…and that includes destroying her marriage.” Another puff of his cigarette was taken, letting this information sink in before he continued on, flicking away some of the ashes. “So is that really all you think we should talk about, or shall we figure out just how we’re going to handle this situation? Or is your tactic to just ignore it until it goes away? Because I have a horrible feeling that this is going to follow the 3 of us around for quite some time, if people are stupid enough to actually believe it.” His mind immediately went to Cecilia, who didn’t even know that there was a rumor at all just yet. He hoped to keep it that way, but there was no doubt that it would get back to her.

He was really ready to pummel whoever had started this. It not only humiliated his friend, but could quite possibly throw a wrench in his relationship with his girlfriend. He wanted to think she would just brush it off, but he could never be too sure with her.

Sebastian wasn't sure his head could hurt this much without exploding. He was sure when you could feel your heart thumping right above your eye, that meant that something bad was going to happen and you should probably sit down. Was this guy a moron? Did he really think the words coming out of his mouth had any sort of validity? Evan must live in his own little world in his own little head that completely ignored anything he didn't want to hear, and therefore always felt as if he was right.

Because, clearly, Evan Rosier knew exactly what the difference between right and wrong were.

Sebastian's eyes narrowed upon the cigarette, not bothering to hide his grimace at the smoke. So, not only was this man an idiot, he was rude and inconsiderate as well. There was a reason Sebastian didn't smoke, and he sure as hell didn't need Mackenzie smelling it on his shirts and that making her sick, and---yes, his head was going to explode.

"Evan," Sebastian thought that maybe addressing the man by his first name would snap him out of his altered reality, where everything was in slow motion and out of focus, "Just---get the fuck over yourself, okay? I didn't honestly waste a breath or thought worrying about whether you were behind this, or if it was actually true, so, just--"

His fingers pressed harder against the spot where his brain was going to start splurting out of his forehead, and Sebastian's shoulders tensed. Holy fuck, he hated Slytherins. How Mackenzie had managed to come out as normal as she did he had no idea, "We do not have to handle any situation. Mackenzie and I, the Goldsteins are going to deal with it in a way we choose, and you can go slink back into your lair, hm?"

He looked up, absolutely astounded that the one time he didn't freak out and cause a scene, he was still being forced to deal with a subject he was frustrated with.

It wasn’t that Evan lived in his own world, but he thought that it was necessary to make it perfectly clear to Sebastian that he had nothing to do with this. It wasn’t too crazy of him to go into detail about why it wasn’t him who started the rumor, since the jack ass was dumb enough to ask him if he was or not. For all Evan knew it was a legitimate concern of his. He wouldn’t be surprised, since he thought the man was a complete tool.

The fact that he had just told him to get over himself made him tilt his head again, a brow raised as he went on about how he hadn’t actually think he was part of the lie. He could tell that he was getting frustrated, and Evan didn’t give a damn whether or not he was the cause of it or not. Actually, he kind of hoped he was. It was just so easy to rile up a Gryffindor, but he did have to commend him for remaining so calm. Most of them would have been screaming at the top of their lungs like some sort of banshee by now. “How gallant. You really are her knight in shining armor, aren’t you? It’s quite charming, really.” He took another puff. “But I would like to remind you that Mackenzie is not the only one that’s going to have to deal with this problem, if this spreads like wildfire. There’s a good chance that no one is going to pay much attention to it, but I’d rather be prepared And while you don’t give a shit about that, it does make me involved.” He paused again, rolling his shoulders back once more; a sign of discomfort. “This isn’t about you and me. This is about Mackenzie, and how this will affect her.”

Don't freak out, don't freak out, don't freak out.

His last big issue with this blood status bit was the tattoo, and his fights with Mackenzie and the lack of conversation they had for...a few good weeks. It had been a terrible time, and he'd promised to try and control himself and keep his opinions a bit--softer, than he normally would like to.

So right now, Sebastian was really, really forcing himself to not start yelling and stomping and just--it was hard, and he was going to order himself the grossest pizza ever tonight because he damn well deserved it.

Ignoring the fact that Evan seemed to think he had some sort of say in how Mackenzie was to be helped in this situation, Sebastian let out a breath and looked up, and then back at Evan.

"If you run into trouble with this, from co-workers, or Cecilia," unlike Evan, Sebastian actually paid attention to Mackenzie's friends and their lives, "then I will be the first to renounce anything negative. Which pains me to say, but I'm going to be an adult and promise you that."

He looked over his shoulders again, and then at the ground for a moment before looking up, "I'm not going to allow Mackenzie to get dragged into this any further, so if you, or Cecilia, or anyone else can't take the word of a muggleborn, then I don't know what else to tell you."
