Desmond
Skylar couldn’t believe the time, when she had first looked at the clock. Her heart had nearly jumped out of her chest as she scrambled out of the bed she had been laying in, gathering her clothes before digging out her shoes. She had only supposed to have been with her last night’s client until the early hours of the morning, but after the night he had put her through, she was a little…worn, and hadn’t noticed how late it had gotten. It was 7:38 in the morning, when she had first opened her eyes, and it had taken her about 20 minutes just to get the man to finally pay her – he wanted her to stay longer, and wasn’t at all happy about how she was rushing away.

It was already 8:33 when she was finally able to get to Desmond’s apartment building, and she was still wearing the clothes she had been wearing the night before, and she had to make a pit stop or 2 along the way just to make sure she made up for being late to his doorstep. One stop was made to pick up a special type of Syrup, to go with the Pancakes he was supposed to have been making (it was her favorite brand of strawberry – her mouth watered at the thought of tasting it again), and the other was to pick up something to wear there, and hopefully, if Desmond was kind enough, an outfit to change into after a very much needed shower.

After last night, she definitely felt dirtier.

It was 8:40 when she had been able to leave the woman’s bathroom, changing out of the dress and heels she had been wearing, putting them now in the shopping bag that was in her hand. Now in a pair of jeans and an oversized t-shirt, Skylar, or ‘April’ as Desmond had known her after all these years, waited impatiently in the elevator, her ears perking up when she heard it ‘ding’, letting her know she was on the right floor. Escaping the small metal box, she walked hurriedly down to Desmond’s door, and gave a quick knock.

“Desmond? It's April...”

She called through the door, to let him know it was her. She felt her stomach twist, nervous that he would turn her away because she was almost an hour late.

Her brows were hoisted up as she folded her arms on the table, her lips tugging up into one cheek in the form of a crooked smirk. “I suppose we will.” She watched as he sectioned off a piece of his breakfast, anxiously waiting for him to take a bite so she could know what he thought of her blueberry flavored gift. His reaction caused her to grin before trying for a smug expression as she straightened up and started cutting into her own pancakes. “Told you.” When she looked at him again, she gave him another smile, and then lifted the fork to her lips, letting out a hum of satisfaction as the sweet syrup hit her tongue, her eyes closing as her shoulders visibly relaxed. She took comfort in the little things, and reopened her eyes to turn those baby blues down to her plate, cutting up a bit more as she chewed.

She paused though, looking over to him when he asked about how she was feeling. She stared at him for a moment before looking back to her food, prodding at it a bit before she swallowed her food and then gently cleared her throat, reaching forward for the glass of water he had put out for her.

“Alright. A little tired, but,”

She then looked over to him, giving him a genuine smile.

“I feel much better, now.”

It was then that she placed the next bit of food between her lips, pulling it off her fork. She lifted her hand to cover her mouth, since she was still in the middle of chewing when she spoke again, and didn’t want to be even more rude than she already was being, talking with food in her mouth.

“How are you feeling this morning?”

Oh, she was so clever, turning the conversation around on him...
