The Halloween Ball! --Posted for Friday!
In all of her years at Hogwarts, in all of her years being a prefect and working on a team full of the best students in Hogwarts, Phoebe Smethwyck had never been as impressed as she was right now as she stared around the Great Hall. Illuminated with candles in all shapes and sizes (and colors, a nifty charm a sixth year had found), the tables surrounding the dance floor were decorated with pumpkins, spiderwebs, and fall leaves, creating a spooky, yet beautiful design. The Ghosts of Hogwarts had volunteered to mingle more than usual (she thanked Nearly Headless Nick profusely, and promised to hold him a belated Death-Day party), captivating the guests with stories---how much truth they held, she couldn't be sure, but they were interesting nonetheless.
The band was a new kind of wizard rock, a bit more political than the Hobgoblins, W.O.A.R. There had been a lot of discussion at the prefect meetings about whether or not they should try and book them, but at the end of the day the naysayers (read: the Slytherins) were outvoted, and the band with the hit song "Do You Believe in M.A.G.I.C" was creating an incredible atmosphere.
So---people looked happy. They were laughing, smiling, and just---happy. Not something Phoebe felt like the wizarding world had been in a long time, and she was glad to be a big part of it.
Now, if only she could find a reason to be happy, herself.

Elphias!
It was four-thirteen in the morning and she was sitting on a bed with a boy in the Leaky Cauldron.
This wasn't something she'd never fantasized about, but it had been just that, a fantasy. Phoebe had no idea what had come over her, agreeing to meet Elphias this late--early, but she did it without a second thought, and that was scary. It could have to do that she was still half-asleep, but with the way she'd jolted up at the sight of his comment in her journal was leading her to believe that it was more. It was stupid and not very feminist to just jump up and rush over to her ex-boyfriend, but. Phoebe could care less about the women's movement at the moment, sorry Ashlyn.
She sat with her hands clasped tightly on her lap, shoulders hunched and head bowed slightly. What were they going to talk about? Oh, this was a bad idea, wasn't it? A really bad idea, a super bad idea---but it was Elphias, and she'd always be his friend, and he looked like he needed to see her even if it was just to sit her in silence for hours and that made her chest tighten with things she's never felt before.
"I---do you want, to get--breakfast, or something?" she whispered, not sure why. It felt like a delicate moment, but Phoebe was betting on the fact that she just simply didn't know what to say.

Open to all invited!
"I'm glad you could come!"
Meredith waved to one of the many people whom she recognized and took a sip out of the glass she was holding. She looked around, surveying the people who had come--this party had definitely been a good idea, just look at everyone who had shown up! It was almost as good as the parties that those rich Slytherin girls threw, except that none of them were there. Which was alright, she told herself, because they were rude anyway, but how cool would it have been if a party she and Phoebe threw had actually attracted one or two?
There was a big bonfire blazing a few meters away and Meredith went over to place herself down in the sand around it. She leaned back on her hands and stretched her legs out, watching the silhouettes of her feet as she wiggled her toes. It was going to be murder to get all of this sand off of her at the end of the night, but none of that mattered right now. This was awesome and nothing was about to spoil her night.

Elphias!
After begging, and pleading, and sneaking, and just being miserable and on the brink of tears, her father had finally given in and granted Phoebe permission to visit Elphias. Of course, she had to take some potions, wear a mask, and Phoebe seriously had to throw down the big orange suit her dad had demanded she wear and it was---just wrong. No. Seriously? No. She could deal with the mask, because that's what happened with patients, but--
"Ohhh," she let out when she finally entered his room. Goodness gracious, this was horrible! She couldn't help Elphias at all and he looked so sick and so tired and Phoebe wondered if he even wanted to see her. Maybe he just wanted to be by himself, Merlin, she knew she would---well, no. She'd want Elphias to visit her. And, honestly, she would've earlier if her dad wasn't such a nutcase with all of this, but when you were high up on the healer list you could do things that made it near impossible to sneak it, but. They went back to school tomorrow! She couldn't leave without saying goodbye to Elphias, or telling him to get better.
Phoebe slowly made her way to the bed, sitting in a chair by his side. Ohhh, she couldn't cry. She couldn't cry. Stop being stupid! Seriously! He's going to think you're nutters! "Hi."

Elphias!
They were seriously just sitting there studying. Seriously! She needed help with Charms, Elphias had offered, and now they were sitting at the little square table in the corner, going over notes and figuring out theories. There was no reason for the common room to have emptied and left them completely and entirely alone. None. They were studying, nothing else! Phoebe hadn't even noticed that they were abandoned until the crackle of the firewood made her jump.
Though, now that she thought about it, Brad had been totally pushing three people out of the common room door, and Emmeline had definitely grabbed Anneliese and Ellie by the arm to pull them up the stairs. Were...were people plotting against them? Nuh uh. No way. Why would they care? It wasn't as if they were dating or anything and the rest of the Houses' lives depending on whether or not she and Elphias kissed or snogged or even held hands and oh God. What if it did? What if everyone in all of Ravenclaw (Phoebe wouldn't even let herself think outside of Ravenclaw tower) was watching and waiting to see what would happen? She knew how gossips worked, she was one of the best so--so---
"Ah, how much--how much stuff from sixth year have you been reviewing for your N.E.W.T.s?" she asked, running a nervous hand through her hair because she needed to ignore the silence that had fallen upon the common room.

Elphias!
"GO RAVENCLAW!" Phoebe shouted into the still partying common room as she spun around on the steps of the boy's dorms. Oy, seriously? Seriously?! They'd won! Brilliantly! Against Slytherin! And it was amazing and it was awesome and she was so, so wired, and people probably thought she was drunk (like a few of the Ravenclaws down in the common room) but she was just really, really, really, really happy, and hopped up on like six cups of some of this like super sugary drink that someone had brought in from shedidntknowwhere but it was really, really, really, really good and!
Now she was going up to visit Elphias! Who didn't like parties and was up in his dorm studying! Who the heck didn't like parties? Well, Elphias would definitely be one to fit into that category, so Phoebe wasn't too surprised, but she sprinted up the steps anyway to go and drag her---well...her....Elphias, down the stairs.
Haaahahaha. Her Elphias. Gaw.
But that was to figure out for another day. Phoebe shrieked and high-fived a fifth year named Cristian that came out of the dorm as she hurried up to the seventh years', and shouted another pro-Ravenclaw cheer down the stairwell before finally reaching Elphias' dorm.
"Knock, knock, knock!" she shouted at the door, knocking on the wood with each word.
