to Link [03 Jul 2011|09:47am]

criminalminds
Apollo tried not to be annoyed with Ares' new found interest. The freakish red-head was at least a pureblood. He could not say the same for Link. And Apollo found himself thinking about him all the time. When Ares was at class or whenever he had the room to himself, sometimes he would indulge in elaborate fantasy all leading the same place: small quiet whimpers as he came into his own hand. At least he could pretend he was just using Link's pretty features as fodder rather than really developing feelings for him.

The dance was coming up rapidly and Apollo was having increasing difficulty with the idea of humiliating the boy. Today he'd arranged to go shopping with Link, for proper formal robes. His own were getting too small and he insisted that he be able to veto anything Link planned to wear. He wouldn't be seen with someone poorly dressed.

Showing up at his door, he didn't knock, but walked right into his room.

It had been about a week since Larit had taken Roger in. He'd had to keep an eye on the boy, and in between the fevers and the fits, there were those moments of lucidity where they had actual conversations. Thanks to Arch's help, Larit had been able to help Roger through his first week and now things would get easier. Of course that first shift was still to come, and that was going to be very hard on the boy's body. Larit was going to do his best to help Roger through it, though. Deep down he knew that he should have turned the boy over to his superiors, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

Earlier that afternoon Roger'd had one of his pain fits. It had been bad, probably the worst so far, but Larit had calmed him down and after giving him a potion he had fallen asleep. Larit went to work with cooking them both dinner because he knew Roger would be awake soon. He'd made steak, Roger's rare, along with mashed potatos, green beans, and corn bread. He carried a tray up to his bedroom - Roger still taking residence up in his bed - and set it down on the table.

"Roger," he said gently as he reached out to touch his shoulder.

to Haben [22 May 2011|03:32am]

Coming from a prominent magical family, Noah of course was driven to continue on with his studies after graduating at the high school level. He'd graduated at the top of his class, with honors. He had decided to take a bit of time off in between college and high school though, to spend time with Haben travelling around. Part of the reason for it was in hopes that he could convince his friend to go to college with him, while another part was just the need to wander around with the other boy for a while. They'd experimented on their own with Animagi early on in high school. It had taken a lot of skill and incredible discipline. It wasn't like Noah to want to do something illegal without the proper guidance or approval, but he had wanted something just for Haben and himself - just like Haben had wanted it. Despite how hard working and focused Noah was, the transformation had come to Haben first. It seemed almost natural, and of course Noah had been jealous - especially of Haben's animal form. For two months he was left to wonder what he'd end up changing into. When he turned into a lion as well, he'd been happily shocked. It only served to cement his belief that he and Haben were connected beyond what normal friends were.

Now, a year later, at age 19, Noah was getting ready for his college courses to start. He had the rest of the summer, and then he was going to dive head first into his schooling and he was anxious for it. That and his father was pushing him to come back home, and to bring Haben with him, of course. Both families had a long line of tight knit friendships in the past, and Haben's grandfather had been a bit of a mentor to Noah's father. When the man had died, Noah's father had made it a point to try and look after Haben in honor of Haben's grandfather's memory.

Tonight, they were camping out in a vast forest. Wizard style, of course. Their tent was big and had a lot of things that no mere muggle would ever dream up, let alone have. Noah was studying a book Metamorphmagus - something he had long ago mastered, but something he wanted to learn more about. He was on the path of wanting to become a Transfiguration Professor, something he knew that he could excel at. Haben was off wnadering somewhere outside.

To Hale [12 May 2011|02:43am]

deathproof
Something was up with Apollo. Ares could feel it. He wasn't sure what to do or say about it, though. He wasn't even sure how to react, really. He felt like maybe Apollo was keeping something from him, and he'd never felt that way before. It was unsettling, and he didn't like it. He wondered if it had something to do with Link. The way that Apollo hadn't wanted to deface the kid... It bothered Ares. Something was going on, and he was going to have to find out what.

For now, though, he had to focus on his project for... What class was it? He couldn't even remember. He'd gotten a hold of some herb from Professor Mullen's lab and he'd mixed it with some weed to smoke. Whatever he'd concocted, it was amazing, and he was high as a kite as he laid in the grass in the court yeard and waited for Hale to come along. He was all sprawled out, his books laying next to him in a neat stack as he stared up at the sky. He was out of it, completely lost at the moment, and it was obvious. When Hale came into view, the older boy leaning over him, Ares arched a brow.

"You look like an elf," he said with a slow smile. "A pretty one."

To Link [03 May 2011|11:05pm]

And so it was a plan: Apollo was going to try to seduce Link into going to the Spring Fling so that he and Ares could humiliate him there. Apollo had been reading Link's journal and while he'd intended to share it with Ares, he'd kept it to himself. He'd copied down quite a few passages from it and had the idea to read them out loud at the dance for humiliation purposes. But for some reason, he just didn't want to let Ares see the book itself. That was just between him and Link.

Today, he planned on returning the journal. It would give him a good excuse to talk to Link--not that he'd ever needed one before. Classes had started awhile ago and everyone was back in the swing of school. Apollo had already learned Link's schedule and where he would be at what time. Yeah, it was stalking, but Apollo would never admit to that. He was just being observant.

Stepping around the corner in the hall, he cut Link's path. "Hey," he said plainly, the sound of his voice utterly benign. He almost looked bored, perfectly aloof. "I have something that belongs to you and I wanted to return it."

To Tiernan [30 Apr 2011|11:44pm]

deathproof
Being a paralegal was easy. All right, so it wasn't always easy, but Rory was good at it. He hadn't ever really given it much thought to reach higher, but when an opportunity arose across country for him to be a paralegal for a great lawyer - and not just any lawyer, but one of the best in not only muggle law but magical law as well... He couldn't just pass it up. He wasn't sure what to do at first, but a decision had to be made. It wasn't as if anything was keeping him in New York. He knew that he wanted to stay because of Tiernan, but he also knew that was ridiculous. Silly. They weren't even together, and they spent their time making eachother miserable. Maybe San Francisco would have something new to offer him. Maybe he'd find someone he could really be with, and he'd have an amazing job as well. All new oppurtunities.

When he'd handed in his resignation, his boss had been a little shocked, but happy for him. It was all happening so fast, and Rory was packing up his office. It wasn't like a job like this could just wait. Lots of people had been vying for it, and Rory honestly hadn't felt like he was going to get picked. He'd interviewed for it, and the fact that he'd gotten that far had shocked him. And now here he was, about to embark on a new chapter in his life. He was more sad than he was excited, though, and he knew why. A part of him wondered if he should have talked to Tiernan about it all - tried to salvage something between them, but he figured it wouldn't work. Nothing ever worked between them.

To Carrick [21 Apr 2011|03:23am]

criminalminds
It had been the worst day in the history of worst days. Not only were his hands bright blue, but it had been the last straw at work. William had a knack for potions, but he also had a knack for a wandering mind. It was almost impossible for him to pay attention to any one menial task for a very long time. That's why his job at a pharmaceutical potions lab had always been a little rough on him. If they'd allowed him to do higher level potions work, he would have been fine, engaged and attentive. But he hadn't been hired to do higher level things. He'd been hired on for grunt work. William couldn't even afford to dream about being able to attend any higher education establishments. So he'd been forced to take the first job he could get and pray that someday he could save enough money to go to college.

But after the fifteenth broken flask of one potion or another, William's boss had finally fired him. This would not do his resume any good and so he was back at the beginning, the bottom rung of the employment ladder. He wasn't even going to be able to afford rent this month. At least it wasn't too far of a walk to Carrick's place. William preferred muggle travel, having been raised in the muggle world. His family had believed him to be a squib at first and had sent him to live with his grandpa, also a squib, thinking that it would be best for him not to be confronted with his magical failures. As he walked to Carrick's, he recalled the moment he'd first been able to make something move with just the magic boiling inside of him. He'd been a very late bloomer at sixteen.

open to Archemedes [14 Apr 2011|03:59am]

deathproof
Before, Jordy had never been so nervous about being around Professor Monroe. Of course, he'd had a crush - but Archemedes hadn't know about it. Now he knew about it. That put an entirely new level of nervousness into the boy's system, and he was more than sure that he'd get word from Archemedes that they couldn't study during spring break. But word never came, and instead Jordy kept his dinner date promise the next day, despite the fact that he was nervous. This time, however, he brought some papers he'd been working on - working together some defensive spells on his own for his final project for Archemedes class. He figured it would give them something relevant to speak of during dinner, and Archemdes would be keeping his promise of helping him study.

As they sat down, this time in the dining hall of the school, Jordy offered a warm smile as he slid the paper over to Archemedes. He was anxious to see what the man thought of his hard work. Two spells were nearly perfect. Aquatis was meant to encase an oppenent with water, and Entundo was to confuse them with a hallucination from their past. The one that needed the most work was Chimura, which was meant to cause a delirious fever - but something that physical, inside of the body, was hard for Jordy to get a grasp on.

"Thank you again for this," he said sincerely as he lifted his burger up to take a bite of it. It was still hot, like it was fresh from the grill though it had been sitting out for at least thirty minutes, and Jordy had to smile. He loved magic.

To Larit [14 Apr 2011|12:54am]

Speeding down the street as was his routine, Roger pedaled as if his life depended on it. Funny, how that was the last thing his life would depend on. More to the point, his life was very soon going to be at the mercy of a werewolf and the auror sent to hunt it down. Roger knew nothing of that world and the freight train of disaster barreling toward him on that unusually crisp Spring evening. The sky was cloudless and the moon hung full.

What he knew was that he had a package to deliver on St. John street. A very urgent package, according to his boss. Roger never asked questions about what he was carrying. Being a bicycle messenger, he was used to being told to hurry up, but Mr. Wallington had been especially anxious about this particular parcel, so there Roger was, pedaling rapidly down a twisty street, cutting through a back alley as a shortcut. That was his ultimate downfall. If he'd stayed on the main road his life would have carried on normally. The main road was safe while the alley contained a lurking dark creature.

When he realized that this particular alley was a dead end, Roger cursed under his breath and turned his bike around to head back out as he lamented how much time that wrong turn had probably cost him.

open to Apollo [05 Apr 2011|01:44am]

Link didn't come from a long line of magic. He was one of the few kids who had cropped up seemingly out of no where. The Ministry kept a look out for youngsters just like him, and there was a fun set up to help put such kids through school if they couldn't afford it. Everything had started to change when he was just thirteen. He started to notice things that he could do that he couldn't explain. It was always without intending to do them, too, which usually made for awkward situations. When he was fourteen and just about to go to high school, he was plucked up by a wizard and for the past year he'd been at Gorsemoor Academy. He'd hated returning home for the summer, and if he could have helped it he would have stayed at school. Both of his parents were alcoholics and they dabbled in illegal drugs quite often. The little trailer park Link had come from was a hell to the boy for many reasons, and this place? It was everything he'd ever wished for. Whenever the holidays came around, he was the one who always stayed, so it was no surprise that he'd stayed for spring break. It had been quiet, and he'd read a lot as well as wrote. He liked being on his own more than anything, and when the school started to fill up again he had to sigh in disappointment.

At the moment he was sitting outside beneath a tree, enjoying the weather while he listened to music and read over a book on herbology. He didn't see Apollo in the distance. He hadn't realized that Apollo and Ares had returned from break yet. The Avel twins were ruthless and he always tried to avoid them.

open to Tiernan [26 Mar 2011|11:47pm]

It was going to be a long night. It was late, and Rory was still at the office trying to figure out the ins and outs of a case. A man had been accused of aiding rebel wizards following Voldemort and hiding them, and it was Rory's job to find the evidence to back it up. He was going through a list of spells that the man had allegedly cast, and it was getting to be mind numbing. He'd had to cancel dinner with his boyfriend again, and he could tell that his boyfriend's patience was running thin.

Sitting back in his chair at the conference table he was at, he rubbed at the bridge of his nose and let out a loud sigh that turned into a huge yawn. He was exhausted, and all he wanted was to go home and crawl into bed for a while. But he couldn't leave yet, not until he found something solid to work with. He wasn't aware that Tiernan was even still there, he'd thought that the man had left hours ago so when he heard the office door open up and he glanced in the direction of the noise, he frowned a little bit. The last thing he wanted was a run in with Tiernan - especially tonight when he was all ready cranky.

Getting up, he decided to head to the breakroom to get himself a fresh cup of coffee and to maybe warm up the rest of his dinner since he was starting to get hungry. He was hoping to avoid his ex, and he was keeping himself busy by looking around in the fridge for his takeout container.

To--Anyone at this point :D [26 Mar 2011|10:02am]

criminalminds
Gorsemoor Academy had the auspicious designation of being not only a preparatory academy for magical youngsters, but also a place that offered undergraduate programs for further wizarding education. That's what the brochure had said anyway. What it really meant to Archemedes was that he would have plenty of work during the summer (nearly a full course load of college level classes) so that no moment of his life could be called empty. Vacation was a terrible thing to him for it left his mind to wander and it always wandered back to very negative times.

Unfortunately, the academy still gave out breaks. Things like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the current nightmare of Spring break. Archemedes paced back and forth in the small--but sufficient--living room of his professor's apartment, wishing that he had any papers left to grade. He even had all of his curriculum for the rest of the quarter planned out thanks to the winter holiday break. The cat that his mother sent him meowed plantively. "You're not any help, Pox, so you may as well shut up." Archemedes liked the cat, but had resented the fact that his mother sent her to calm his nerves, as if he was nothing more than some nervous little old cat lady now. Then again, maybe that was the case. Regardless, Pox now reminded him of that fact and so he always spoke to her gruffly. Fortunately, Pox didn't seem to mind.

When he couldn't handle the small confines of his apartment anymore, Archemedes stormed to the door and flung it open, startled to see someone already on the other side of it. His Auror sensibilities mocked him as soon as he heard his own girlish cry of surprise and maybe a little terror.
