open to Apollo
Link didn't come from a long line of magic. He was one of the few kids who had cropped up seemingly out of no where. The Ministry kept a look out for youngsters just like him, and there was a fun set up to help put such kids through school if they couldn't afford it. Everything had started to change when he was just thirteen. He started to notice things that he could do that he couldn't explain. It was always without intending to do them, too, which usually made for awkward situations. When he was fourteen and just about to go to high school, he was plucked up by a wizard and for the past year he'd been at Gorsemoor Academy. He'd hated returning home for the summer, and if he could have helped it he would have stayed at school. Both of his parents were alcoholics and they dabbled in illegal drugs quite often. The little trailer park Link had come from was a hell to the boy for many reasons, and this place? It was everything he'd ever wished for. Whenever the holidays came around, he was the one who always stayed, so it was no surprise that he'd stayed for spring break. It had been quiet, and he'd read a lot as well as wrote. He liked being on his own more than anything, and when the school started to fill up again he had to sigh in disappointment.

At the moment he was sitting outside beneath a tree, enjoying the weather while he listened to music and read over a book on herbology. He didn't see Apollo in the distance. He hadn't realized that Apollo and Ares had returned from break yet. The Avel twins were ruthless and he always tried to avoid them.

All of their things were all ready in the room. They'd bullied some other kids to taking everything up for them, and Ares kicked off his shoes before he plopped down onto his bed.

"And if he says yes to the dance? What'll we do to him when you guys get there?" he asked, tipping his head to the side. "It has to be good. Something really humiliating. In front of everyone."

Apollo thought of the journal and of reading it out loud at the dance. But he wanted to read it all to himself first so he didn't mention it. Instead, he sat down on his bed and leaned back so that his upper half was down and his lower half was still hanging off the end of it as if he was sitting.

"Don't know. We'll think of something good though. Maybe get him drunk and just let him make a fool out of himself. Or light his clothes on fire." With the sort of fire that didn't burn skin, just fabric. That would be attention grabbing, but wouldn't get them expelled.

"That'd be hilarious - he'd end up nearly naked before a teacher could put the fire out," Ares said with a soft laugh as he closed his eyes and let out a little yawn. "I think that one should definitely go on the list," he added as he rolled over onto his side and got comfortable. "This means you have to be nice to him until the dance, though - think you can fake being nice and liking a mudblood?" he asked with a smirk.

"I doubt I'm going to have to be too nice to him. He's probably just dying for any kind of kindness from us. If I just don't punch him in the face, I think I'll be in good with him. Hell, maybe even if I punch him in the face." He remembered hitting him after kissing him and he wondered if he'd just said he was sorry and kissed him again if all wouldn't have been forgiven. For some reason that thought made him feel sad.

"He's too stupid for any kind of self preservation."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Ares agreed as he slipped beneath the covers and tugged them up over his head with a loud yawn. "M'tired," he added sleepily.

He didn't realize that him taking a nap would give Apollo the perfect oppurtunity to read Link's journal. That the things in that journal might soften his brother up a little bit towards the other boy. Link had been through a lot of terrible abuse growing up, and the only person who knew that was Christian who was hundres of miles away. Well, Christian and his parents - the one who subjected him to the abuse.

As soon as he was certain that Ares was dozing, Apollo slipped under his own covers and took out his wand to illuminate his reading. He opened the book and started to skim through the entries. It excited him far too much to be reading about Link's personal thoughts.

He found himself slowing down. Instead of just skimming for something good, he started to read each word, learning as much as he could about the object of his obsession.
