Melinda doesn't really feel comfortable in her room. She's never gotten along well with her roommate, and she seems unable to get it changed, so instead she sits in a quiet, isolated corner of the mansion, doing her homework, away from where others might bother her. Math has never been her strong suit, but she's focused on getting good grades. She can't be sent out of here. She needs to remain with the X-Men.

After meeting Justin, Tina has elected to stay off-campus as it were more often than not. At first it was just a comfort thing--she did have her own snazzy brownstone after all, but it had also become a privacy thing. The more time she spent with Justin the more privacy she wanted with him. She was a little reluctant to admit it, but she was allowing herself to have feelings for the young Mr. Rhodes and it certainly wouldn't do to scare off the best thing that had ever happened to her by admitting that hey, she's an X-Man. That would be a less-than-ideal thing (and she didn't exactly want to get dumped.)

She couldn't exactly vacate the space entirely, but she could give her roommate the courtesy to let her know that the space was mostly hers. As loathe as she was to do so, Tina let her telepathy guide her to where Melinda was. She still thought the girl held a little too tightly to her Victim Crutch (Tina being of the mind that the best way to get beyond anything was just to power past it--her own history included) but courtesy was courtesy. And she'd managed to do just fine when dealing with the psycho island.

"Hey." She found the corner and approached rather quietly.

"Are you always hostile, Melinda? Look. I get it that some bad things happened to you. You really aren't the only one. A few of us have scars, too. And some..." And a person would have to be blind and stupid not to see the sudden flicker of shame cross Tina's face in the brief pause. "Some of us have video floating around out there that will come back to haunt us and wreck our lives. But we're all here together. Shall we try to get off on another foot or do you want to just sit there and glower? Either way I have news that should make you at least a little less irritated."

	Melinda almost snaps at her,interrupting, but bites back... and listens. Thoughtfully. It's obvious, really. Of course other people have been hurt. But no one had actually said that to her yet. The thought hadn't even occurred to her. She considers a moment. "I... don't mind trying a new foot again," she says quietly. "I'd rather not hate my roommate." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

She wouldn't be Emma Frost's daughter if it she'd blinked and so she didn't--it wasn't in her DNA to be that open it would seem. But she did smile a bit to mask her surprise that Melinda was suddenly almost reasonable.

"I would prefer it not be a situation of hatred, either. Even if I'm probably not going to be in the room much. I kind of have a boyfriend. Who does not know what I do. He thinks I'm in IT security...I think he'd freak if he found out I was an X-Man and just kicked a living island's ass. That and overnights are just rude when you have a roomie."

	Did... Chris just give her potential ammunition to use against her? If she wanted to be petty, Melinda could just out her to the boyfriend. But... she really doesn't want to do that. Instead, she smiles. "Is he cute?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Justin was a topic that could coax the open emotion right into the young woman's face and the smile that stretched over her features was radiant.

"He's better than cute. He's absolutely beautiful. He has the most amazing eyes. It's almost nauseating how pretty he is...and he doesn't even get it." Tina pulled her phone from her pocket and, with a few touches she had a small holographic presentation of the pictures on her phone. Justin Rhodes was gorgeous.

"See?"

"He's really great. I'm...actually pretty sure I'm going to mess this up somehow." She put the phone away and frowned a little. "I don't like keeping secrets from him and I'm really worried my past is going to wreck things. I don't know how to handle it. It's stupid. I'm completely into him already. I'm sorta dreading when he sees the bruises on my backside from Insane Island Jam 2010."

"I don't know. This is the first time I've had to outright cover anything. I plan on telling him I had to go to a remote server located out of country...it could happen. And that the locals did not want us there--which is true. The question is will he buy it or will he just get pissed that my backside is purple? I guess I'll just have to wing it." She smiled. "But I appreciate the offer and this is a whole lot better than being stuck in diamond."

	Tina considered this. "He already knows I'm a mutant. I sort of supercharged his watch for him as flirting." She grinned. She was pretty proud of that, actually. "But it might not be a bad idea, you saying something about being on X-Force. I know he's mutant-friendly. Let's see if he's...team-friendly. But we should be careful. Justin has a weak heart."
