"I thought we were going to go away for a few days," Natasha said to her husband as she watched him pack a suitcase. Nick was sitting on her hip happily chewing away at an animal cracker. She and Tony had plans to take a small vacation, but now it looked like those plans had changed. Her husband was packing for a business trip, or so it seemed.

Tony felt bad about having to cancel their trip, but Scion needed back-up and Tony couldn't really say no after all of the times Sydney, then Andy, changed their schedules to hop on a plane and attend a meeting for him.

"I'm sorry, honey. I am. Apparently, Ares jumped the Defenders. Sydney is away on personal business and Andy still hasn't recovered from Ares's attack. Poor guy is still unconscious, even though they healed him." Tony says, getting the last of his clothing into a suitcase. He also had his suitcase armor ready to go.

"Look, I'll only be a couple of days. Once I see to the repairs at Defenders HQ and make sure things are running smoothly, I'll be back." he says, stopping what he's doing to kiss her, then Eddie.

"When I get back, I'll make this up to both of you, okay? Eddie, you're the man of the house. Please make sure that your mother doesn't go on any missions and give Fury as many sarcastic gurgles and smirks as you can for both of us. Got it, buddy?" Tony asks.

Eddie smiles at his daddy and Tony musses his hair.

"Tasha, are we okay?" he asks.

Nick's response came in the form of a gurgle and a giggle.

"Things happen, Anthony." Tasha didn't expect him to not go on business trips. There was just usually more of a warning. Pepper was really good about keeping her up to date on Tony's schedule.

She returned the kiss and smiled at the interaction with their son. "We're good Anthony. Nick and I will be here waiting for you to come home. We'll go shopping to take our minds off how much we miss you."

"Aw, come on, Eddie! Just one more time for your old man? Please?"

Nothing.

"Okay, son. I won't pressure you /this/ time. When I get back, though, we're going to get a recording of you saying 'Ma ma and Da da' if I have to wait all night for it.

I will accept 'Moose and Squirrel' as substitutes." Tony nods. He kisses Tasha before she can say anything, then grabs his suitcase.

"And I've got to go!" Tony laughs, heading out the door.

	Tony puts his bags in the car, then checks his phone. E-mails from Pepper, e-mails from Rhodey, a message from Anya and one from Justin. He'll get those in a bit. He goes to into the car, but can't shake the feeling that something is off. "All right, Defenders mansion. Only stop for cops and funerals, people." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Of course, sir," the man said and closed the door. He hurried around the car and climbed in. He got the car moving and pulled out onto the freeway. About ten minutes into the drive the divider went up, the doors locked and a gas started to pour into the back. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

When Tony hears the gas, he realizes the trap and tries to roll down the windows. If that doesn't work, he'll try to kick the doors open so that he can jump out.

Who in the hell would be dumb enough to try to jump him like this?

He keeps trying to get a door or window open, even as the gas starts to affect his senses. He throws an arm over his face in the hopes of staving off the effects of the gas for a bit.

	The windows won't go down and the doors don't budge. The gas continues to pour into the back of the car and the driver keeps driving. The car had been specially modified to do this job. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Tony is losing consciousness, and falls to floor of the vehicle, coughing. He tries to get a hand on his phone to call for help, trying to dial Tasha or Anya. His fingers don't seem to be working, though, and soon he's unconscious inside the vehicle. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The driver glanced back and the picked up his cell phone. "Yes, sir. I have him." He disconnected the call and took the next exit. He drove back onto the freeway and headed back toward the airport. (Reply to this)(Parent)
