Tell a Friend
Characters: Meka Palakiko and Anastas de Kooning
Setting: Saturday night,
Rating: Let's be honest, she swears like a Sailor
Summary: Meka finds an unlikely source of solace.

After tucking Milo into her bed and giving him another cookie and tons of kisses, she found her phone and sent out that text message she had promised Stas. She needed to talk to someone, anyone, to vent that anger. Someone had hurt her familiar, her Milo, an innocent little animal who would not hurt a fly! On top of it all she had been having a shit week. Welcome to 2011.

Where are you? It was a simple but urgent text and she hoped he would answer soon.

At your disposal. Where are you? he texted back as soon as his phone buzzed. He'd been waiting for her text since reading her post. She'd woken a strong protective urge in him, the sort that detached him from everything else going on in his life. He'd be there for Meka tonight and fuck everything else for a few hours.

My room, just put Milo in bed. She texted back. She didn't particularly care where they met, she just knew she needed to talk to him, she could tell him all the things going on in her head without worrying about what he would say in return.

I will be up in a few minutes. He made the quick trip to Sonnier and bargained his way through the door. He knocked quietly on Meka's door and let himself in so as not to disturb her or Milo. He felt a peculiar sensation spreading out over his chest just looking at Meka. It tightened, strained with an emotion he couldn't identify. He had to check his sudden rush of anger. She didn't know who had done this; until she did he'd have to hold the rage.

"Hey," was all she could managed before she started crying. She stood from her bed and did something she had never done. She buried her face in his chest and cried. She was angry, so angry but at the moment her sadness was far more real to her. She had no place to aim her anger but the source of tears was clear enough.

He was surprised at the body pressed against his, but Stas did what he always did with women. He took it in stride and wrapped his arms around her. "I am here," he offered quietly. He would hold her until she stopped crying. He would hold her until she didn't need it anymore.

"Who would do this?" she asked, her voice still muffled. "Why?" It took her a few more minutes to really get herself together. She wiped her face and finally freed Stas from her grip. "I could really kill someone for this," she said darkly. She moved over and sat on the edge of her bed and looked at Milo. "He's getting better," she said quietly, smoothing his feathers. "He ate today. Just a couple cookies but it's an improvement from nothing."

"You will not need to kill anyone," he said quietly. "I will be your weapon." It was more than a promise. He moved with her and sat next to her. He thought for a moment about bringing Lorelai with him, but he figured a snake would unnerve the injured owl. "This is good," he offered quietly. "He will get better."

It meant a lot to her to hear him say that and she only nodded. Meka leaned her head on his shoulder and sighed. "I just," she felt that sick churning in her stomach. "Nothing ever goes right and then this," she touched Milo gently and sighed, her whole body shook when she did. "Grant Baer is now my personal hero and I don't care how much I fucking hate that class," she offered a weak laugh.

He was never very good with animals, but he had no qualms or a strong opinion about Mister Baer. "You are a tough girl," he complimented. "You can take it."

"What if someone tries to do it again, what if they come back for him?" she asked breaking down again. She couldn't stand the thought of Milo getting attacked again, the first time was enough. "I just need to know why, why would someone do this to him, to us?" She needed something, she needed anything to release the anger and stress from everything that had happened, she just didn't know what.

"I cannot answer." He didn't know, didn't want to consider the sort of sadistic fuck that would hurt as familiar. There were lines that he wouldn't cross, no matter how twisted Stasi could be. "We can only hope that this is an isolated incident." If it wasn't he'd tear apart the whole dorm until he found the perpetrator.

"I don't ever want to loose sight of him again," she said quietly, again regaining some of her composure. "I don't want to leave him ever." She shook her head. "I'm such a fucking mess Stasi," she said wiping her face.

He slid his arm around her comfortably. It was nice to have a female friend and no other expectations. He didn't have to play the whore for Meka. "I am here for anything you need."

"I'm just so angry," she said looking at her hands and squishing herself to Stas's side. "Everything is falling apart, I just... I want to hurt things, I've never felt this angry in my life." She hated to say it but she needed to say it, she needed to get it off her chest.

"Hit me," he said entirely soberly. "I can take it."

"I can't," she said, her voice sounding like it might break. "I can't," she shook her head one more time but aimed a weak punch at his chest. She hit him again, harder this time. Then again, each punch gaining strength, she punched him until her fists couldn't move anymore and she just leaned against him helplessly. "Damn it, damn it, fucking shit fuck shit ball fuck," she mumbled.

He enjoyed the punches more than he'd ever tell Meka. He'd have some bruises to go with the scratches Emilie had inflicted on him yesterday evening. Thankfully he'd never been topless with Sunny and probably wouldn't have to explain it at all. He said nothing while she hit him, put up an unreadable face. When she was done, leaning against him with all of the fight leaving her he was gentle. He scooped her up in his arms and set her gently on her bed. He curled up beside the length of her body and spooned her carefully. "I will stay if you like. I can confound your roommate and charm the door."

"Don't leave me," she said, her voice cracking slightly. "Please don't leave." She couldn't stop crying after that, just letting the tears run quietly down her face. She reached over and touched Milo with one hand and rested the other hand on one of Stasi's. "I can't be alone right now."

He snuggled closer and held her lightly. "I will not leave." He shot a quick charm at the door so that even if anyone came in they wouldn't see him. He'd take care of her roommate when she came home. "I will stay all night."

Meka settled against his touch. "Thank you," she said quietly, still crying. She might be able to explain everything in the morning but for now she just felt shattered. It was all too much happening at the same time and she just needed someone to hold her, to keep her from falling apart completely.
