Happy Birthday Ty! (open)
It was the first time Cait could buy a gift for someone and not have to watch every penny or feel guilty about digging into her savings. She was keeping up her end of the bargain with Arthur and he in turn was keeping up his in addition to being a little generous with funds. It was her first time being on the surface since her grandfather died that was officially sanctioned by Arthur and with it came access to more funds.

Having access to money didn't solve the problem of what to get Ty.

Cait made a phone call. The day would be spent with the Titans and then Cait and Ty would have dinner with Ty's mom. Cait also set up a shopping trip with his mom. It would give them some time to bond and maybe she had a few ideas that would help Cait narrow down a gift. After a day of shopping Cait and his mother had managed to get him new clothes, his favorite candy and Cait had gotten him parts for an upgrade to his laptop and a few hundred dollars on a gift card for books for his Kindle.

She made him breakfast on the day of his birthday and took it to him.

Save when he tucks her in, he doesn't bother pretending to sleep, and his room goes mostly unused except as a place to change and store clothes. So breakfast comes up to his lab. He senses her coming, and has work set aside by the time she gets there.

Cait returned the kiss. "I did. Your mom and I had a great time. Which reminds me. Start your breakfast and I'll be right back."

She left to go get his gifts.

"I'm glad, and really glad you two are doing so well." he replies, settling in to enjoy breakfast until she gets back.

Cait grabbed the gifts and returned to Ty. "Here. Just a little something."

He returns to speaking aloud when she gets back. "I'm glad you two are doing so well. And... you didn't need to get anything, little or not, but I appreciate it. Thank you, love."

"I've been researching salvage laws. Apparently I have partial rights to the ship I raised and its contents. A lot of it went to a museum after patching... but it was still enough to make a large down payment on a house."

He nods. "I can make the payment, and if she continues to pay the same amount as she had been on her apartment, I've set up a bank account to match it. It'll just pay it off, with a little left to do a real Christmas and get her some furniture for the bigger place."

"Well, there's two hundred other people in there waiting for a turn." he jokes. Best to make light of it, he supposes. "I don't know how he got to the front of the line twice. But anyway... I'm also less anxious about him. He did sort of help me buy a house for my Mom. So that might help too."

"You know, I had known about salvage laws, we could have bought your mom a house a long time ago. No one knows where all the old shipwrecks are better than an Atlantean. I know the location of at least four off of the top of my head."

"I don't think Atlantis cares much about them," she said. "We've always known where they are, no one has bothered them. Surface items aren't of much value." She paused. "Well they haven't been. Interest in the surface is starting to grow again."
