"So, I hope you're okay with a history flick? I know there's a lot more normal stuff out, but this one's about Edward VIII's brother, and I've got a ...Thing about Edward the VIII." Pause. "Not a Thing as in a man-crush, the guy was a freaking moron, but ... it's complicated, I guess." Sheepish Mac is sheepish.

Mac chortles. "Definitely not. It's just, some people paint it as a big tragic story, having to choose between the girl he wanted and the throne. But seriously? He dumped off all his responsibilities to his family so he could run off and live happy ever after. And really, though, it's a good thing they had stupid rules back then over who he could marry, 'cause the guy was such a colossal idiot he didn't know Nazis were the bad guys. Any sovereign worth anything's gotta know you're supposed to kick Nazi butt."
Mac smiled sheepishly. "Uh, not like I can relate or anything. So I kinda want to see what happened when his brother got all that dumped in his lap."

Mac'll eat it by the handful through the trailers, but find himself consuming less and less as the story of this somewhat messed-up royal family unfolds. By the time it's near the end, and the new king is breaking down in his wife's arms, stammering "I'm not a king. I'm a naval officer! That's all I know; I'm not a king," Mac can't even spare a single thought for 'Helena Bonham Carter makes a hot queen' anymore.

But things work out. George VI gets it together. He has his family. He has a friend. He's going to do the job and do it well.

Dudes do not cry at movies. Especially period movies. Mac reminds himself this.

He smiles, and walks with her, his arm around her waist. "So what do you think about the Knicks acquiring Anthony? I mean, his TS-percentage is probably lower than any of their current starters, but he's been a sort of lightning-rod for the Nuggets, so the others got more clear shots. Still, we're much different team --" Mac'll chatter about basketball as he heads in the direction of his place.
